Why should one be allowed to disallow replies? I found that there is also a parameter that can disallow votes and that seems similarly weird.

I'm with you. I think forbidding replies is a form of censorship and I don't want that.

I looked into that a few weeks ago and was disappointed to see that it had been disabled. I think that decision should be reverted too, I can see it being used by apps that want to post information on the blockchain that doesn't require replies (like a FAQ). What I would really like to see if it comes back though is a way of setting allow_replies to false but still be allowed to reply on the post if you are its author.
