Hi Friends!

After about 23 hours of travel, I have finally arrived in Kraków! Besides @roelandp, I may be the first Steemian here! Despite the long day of travel and little sleep, I actually had a pretty good day.

I didn’t get stuck next to a Chatty Cathy on the plane, my luggage didn’t get lost, and all my planes were on time. I would call that a success.

Ps... yes I’m in a tank top! This Seattle girl considers 60s and sunny to be practically tropical. We actually got so lucky for the weather this week. It was in the 40s and raining last week in Krakow , and so the weather right now is much, much nicer. Still, you are all definitely going to want a jacket.

My First Time Getting A Stamp On My Passport

This was a super exciting moment for me! I’ve never actually gotten a stamp on my passport before. When I went through customs for the second time in Frankfort, the good man gave me a stamp. I’m hoping that I get a Polish stamp when I fly back home.

For those who have been following my road to Steemfest , you know that I was super nervous about traveling today. So I decide to treat it like a game! Every time I passed through a new thing such as security or my fight being on time, I thought of it is leveling up and unlocking some achievement. My poor friends got so many texts today letting them know I reached a new level in my “game”.

An Exciting Uber Ride

I got an awesome Uber driver on my way from the airport to the Qubus hotel. He was giving me tips on things to do in the city and he even drove me past this awesome castle that I will have to go back and check out in daylight tomorrow.

I love taking Uber’s because you never know who you’ll meet and what interesting conversations you will have. If anyone ever wants to hear the story of mine and my sisters Uber ride in Toronto, just ask me. It was pretty incredible.

Finally in Poland and Soaking It Up

Ok... that was a bad joke, but I did treat myself to a nice long bath once I got settled into my room. I don’t think I’ve ever ordered room service in my life, but I decided to have someone bring me up some wine. I put some Netflix on my iPad, and just enjoyed the evening. Now that I’m feeling a little refreshed and relaxed from my travels, I might wander out in search of some tasty food!

So excited for my first time in Europe and to have the extra time to explore the city a bit before everyone gets here. I’m off now in search of a cool place to hang out and grab some good food. Talk to you all soon!

A red chair and Netflix sounds like a good plan after 22 hours travel!
Have fun!

Wine and a bath sounds like a good plan after 22 hours travel, see you next week :)

Oh man it was the BEST.

See you soon!!

Oh nice! Very glad to hear you unlocked so many achievements! I have to admit the 'No Chatty Cathys' badge is always one I'm excited about collecting... my partner is way nicer than me and always ends up next to someone who wants to talk for hours.

Love that Uber is there... I've had fun trying to communicate destinations in Spanish and Thai and Japanese with hilariously disastrous results, Uber just takes all that confusion away... although I imagine you'll be surrounded by English speakers for most of your trip. Europeans are amazing like that.

So far everyone has spoken some level of English! Even if it’s pretty broken, we’ve been able to communicate. :-)

Yeah, I was happy to see that Uber is so commonly available here at the city. Makes getting around super affordable and easy.

Wish you were here! We’ll just have to plan some sort of Steem shenanigan in Portland!

I wish I was there toooooo... especially since every time I say Portland people think I want to fly to Poland. Can't believe I'm not taking advantage of that common bond.

I have one more commonality between the cities to share with you. When I was wandering around Kraków today, I spotted a food truck court. You would’ve felt right at home!

I totally took this picture with the sole purpose of sharing it with you! Haha There were probably seven or eight food trucks there. And they all had covered outdoor seating with plastic walls. I hadn’t seen that before.

Yes!!!! AND THE SUPER COOL RANDOM ARTS! This is so Portland/Poland!

Ahhhh, tell one of your new Polish Food truck friends to come over here with his plastic walls and make ALL THE MONEY! Oregonians are so used to juggling their Shawarma and their umbrellas they've never even thought that there might be a better way.

This is a great find! Thank you! I know what I'm having for lunch today now!!!!

Hahah right?? So brilliant!! Perfect for the Portland rain.

I loved the art above it too!! Who knew Portland and Poland were basically sisters after all. :-)

That looks like Ned there in the foreground. Can tell its not, the hairs not good enough. Maybe its Jed, his twin brother.

I'm jealous you have a bathtub

Oh man I looove taking baths. I’m staying in an Airbnb with a bunch of people later the week, so I don’t think there will be opportunities to take baths then. Enjoying it now while I can. 😊

You could look out for a great Steak place as well - would fit the red wine perfectly :)

A steak would have been awesome! When I was wandering around last night, most of the places that were open were just bars. Seems like the food closes down a little early around the Qubus. Now I’m just extra excited to go find good breakfast. :-)

wow! 23 hours mostly up there in the skies - to much for me lol. I get impatient and anxious with 2 hours travel. Have a great time. Wanted to comment many time ago but my rc was low! Cool blogs - I enjoy reading you! Cheers

Aww well thank you for spending some of your RC to stop by leave a comment! That is so sweet of you!

Yeah I’m usually the same - more than 2 hours and I get antsy. Haha you might be surprised though... it wasn’t as bad as I thought. 😊

It must be particularly exciting for you - being your first time in Europe. I hope your favourite Netflix shows play in Poland. Sometimes there are different copyright issues and some shows don't make it across the pond. I always advice people to download their shows before making the journey :)

Hope to meet you in a couple of days and hit the salsa/bachata scene out there haha.

Ooh that’s a good point! I downloaded some things for the plane, but didn’t think about downloading some to watch while I’m here. That being said... i’m not really planning to spend much time in my room watching TV anyway! Too much to see and do out there. :-)

So excited to meet you soon! Will be fun to go find some dancing!

Yeah!! You made it! BEAUTIFUL RING! Also, nice wine placement, I actually have zero #wineanxiety looking at that :)

Hahah yes!! #saynotowineanxiety

I thought my Mene ring looked so pretty in this picture! Love it.

Enjoy your trip!

Thanks Spencer!! 😀

Great you're already there to search for the best coffee!
Hopefully the bath did his work after a trip from 22hrs? :)
See you later! 🤙

Oh it definitely helped. 😉

Now that I’m up, Coffee is definitely going to be a high priority for me soon!
