Not sure about the "first" since I know many others exist built-in, but the biased thing I can't understand what it is.. so I will be neutral here.

According to the creators, they feel they are the first for that kind of rendering technology.

In terms of biased... there are not that many Unbiased renderers like OctaneRender out there. Most of the render engines available are biased, like Vray.

What makes a renderer "biased" is that it pre-computes a lot of information before the actual rendering... Simply put, a biased renderer uses an optimization algorithm to produce faster results, but this could mean that the rendering might not be "Physically Accurate", However, the results can be realistic.

Much appreciated.

Now that you mention, and I have to confirm, but I think the movie productions near me (Weta Digital, that worked on Avatar, Lord of the Rings, etc), are using biased for most of the work until the last version is rendered... under "almost" unbiased approaches. Did a bit of quick googling... and my insinuation was kind of right...

Most renderers use solutions that make their render biased, even if they call it unbiased. If they didn’t, the process would be extremely slow.

Basically "Redshift" call them unbiased solution using "special" techniques... which kind of agrees with the above statement.

It is this kind of things that I call great hunt proofs!... and contesting it is also great, beneficial to everyone. Both hunter and hunt reviewers win and learn more. It was this kind of thing I looked in this platform. So, I have changed my vote to 100% even if I lost my charge... I don't care.

I really appreciate...
That's true... It feels great when there is an interaction that is beneficial to everyone and also everyone can learn as well.

Hi hunter,

One of my favorite renderers. I have many blogs here featuring some of my work involving my use of that renderer.

It's such a quality renderer capable of producing stunning results.
