Discord announced its major next path today with the beta release of its own games store.
Rolled out initially to a small number of Canadian Discord users, soon you will be able to procrastinate even more and compete against other Steemians playing up to date game titles in Discord.
Additionally, the service announced that it will offer (extra) support to indie games launched first on Discord.
Games will be available within Nitro, which gets its own upgrade for this.
The Discord Store will be curated by Discord themselves.
Additionally, the Store will also include a “Universal Library” feature which allows PC users to launch their already installed games from within Discord.
Now @acidyo is definitely never going to return to Twitch.

I am really finding it annoying with the pop ups, however, I think it's a great way for the discord team to make more money from us. Talk of a great marketing tactic.
I haven’t seen a pop up yet. But it is difficult to attract 2-3k contributing beta users to a small corner in Beta.
It isn’t a marketing technique, it’s fighting against the tide of those who always have something to complain yet never do. Or participate and then actively deliver valuable feedback. Feedback not based on personal whines but actual constructive or helpful feedback. That is why they need such a large number of testers.
When they roll out nationally, and then internationally it will be integrated better in the design. Worry not.
PS: how has discord made money from you so far?

I had no idea that Discord was thinking of launching a game store, I love using Discord and this will be one more reason to keep using the platform. I hope to find my favorite games inside the store when it is active for the public throughout the world.

Great store for games. We should all try to download content from it.
That’s a truly interesting move by Discord. Not necessarily surprising and to be honest I don’t expect the best premium titles but it’s a strategic move.
Yet, I still think this will be more like Facebook Gaming.
Wow. Discord is going to get the market share from steam? It is very cool. I like discord a lot. It is a really intelligent communication channel. The game store can boost this tool into a next level.
You know what's interesting about this hunt? The procrastination tag.
And I don't think I can say any more about something that's in beta and seems to be a Steam 2.0 or something, as far as I know. The question is, can it compete with him?
