Fooz! is a new marketplace for farmers to sell directly to customers, without middle man.
This is an often forgotten process, one which the internet has only reinforced by pushing merchants ever more to the larger marketplaces which dominate retail.
For farmers this most often means that they can sell their produce only at low price, maybe a little bit more expensive via a co-op, but still very unrewarding. If they have a larger family, they may also be present on weekly fresh markets. Online, they are generally forgotten though.
Fooz! aims to solve this with their own farmer-focused marketplace, complete with geolocation and direct messaging features.
While fooz! is still being developed, an initial MVP rollout has started already with several Italian olive oil producers. You can check out that over at Foozmarket.com.
Knowing several smaller farmers, this is a product I would to see expand worldwide.

I love this hunt.
This is showing the power of decentralization and technology. Farming turned into a mega-corporate behemoth with the little guy getting squeezed out. At least that is the case in the US. Around the world, small farms are still common as it is a means for many to feed their families and earn an income. Having expanded reach enables these small entities to sell at a higher profit without the mega middle men that are so common in our economy.
It is what needs to be stressed about blockchain. There is no reason why people should have to fork over a portion of their profits for middlemen to facilitate deals. The technology exists to bring buyers and sellers together.
Maybe this is a kind of innovation, what can help the really growing in case of food-producers. As the others said, the "middle man" in business chain its a common problem, and in some case, the reason of food-scandals...
And we see this, and just think, why we need the middlemen at all?

Me as a small farmer i will be happy if this app will be soon popular also in our place. But i just hope. This kind of technology and selling in the philippines i am sure will ve not popular in the next 10-20 years. Here the big companies are the one who get the big profit not the small farmers. But the idea is good just have to wait until it will be more popular. Or need a really good marketing strategy to get more app users. Buy agaim same like a agri token or coin. Also most of the small farmers even dont know about these kind of options. So lets see. I am sure in US or Europe it can be easily popular.

I do hope you sell via FB though. Setting up a page and working with messenger (or SMS) is a genuine direct sales venue in countries like the Philippines.
Now even more so with the FB marketplace. Just price all your items at $0.00. Messenger has built-in auto responders for chat, not sure but think you can even have it forwarded to you via SMS as well. I only know the basic features, the only times I still use FB is when I need it for a mobile game. 😂
Remember that before Lazada all those sellers were on Sulit.ph. And before that on Multiply. There's always ways to make things happen for you, even more so in an FB crazy nation.

You are well informed maybe you are also from PH?😊 I was checking the news few days ago and looks like the gov. will make steps that are not good for the small farmers ( rice farmers) so Really i saw a nice small mill machine for estimated 15k. Than maybe i just get a license and i can sell it even for the neightbours. 😊

This is a really nice hunt. I hope that, around my area, some farmers will get involved into this as I would love to order from it. There's many markets out there like but none seems to be directly connected to the farm. I rather eat something from a garden. I'm sure it would taste better.
This app indicates that technology has come full circle now. First technological development created the farmer-consumer divide and now it is helping them re-connect. This is a great sign.
We need more of such tech products that can help us re-connect to our own food. Just like you, I'd also like to see such products expand all across the world for the better.
