Pretty clever! I never thought there are websites like this which can even offer late 1900's music. This can be a perfect piece of tool when hanging with friends or even when you have a date night with someone you love. Thanks for bringing this up hunter!

To be honest, it has long lost its shine. As Spotify entered the stage many labels started pulling their content from last.fm and the acquisition by CBS didn’t change that (despite CBS being owner of MTV too then).
Lots has been replaced by YouTube hosted music videos but we all know what a mixed experience bag that is.
It’s a pity, the scrobbler used to be one of the first apps i would install on new devices, on all my devices but i couldn’t really care about it anymore nowadays. Don’t think I’ve scrobbled even 10k/year in last few years.
Last.fm was much better when it was just last.fm and Pandora competing.

Sure many people have just moved on. The competition is tougher and the other channels you mentioned seemed to have the upper hand now. How the mighty has fallen! Information Technology industry seems to be the most competitive. If company or service sleep one minute, they are off the top.
Actually a large reason of what happened is because there was a collective of labels who invested in Spotify. Although that happened much later, the labels did prefer the initial offerings of Spotify already.
Users moved away because last.fm didn't have the library of before anymore.
