Today at CES 2019 Hyundai presented Elevate, a walking car concept, and prototype. With this product, Hyundai showed how they are pushing the boundaries in transportation technologies and gave a showcase of what to expect from future vehicles.
They had a small prototype robot on stage during the presentation, also mentioned another prototype that was tested at Rubicon trail.
Hyundai Elevate is a walking car that is capable of extending its legs, reptile-like walking while keeping the main body balanced. Some of the use cases at the main image shows would be used as rescue vehicles where there is no access for traditional vehicles.
Another use case is, during inclement and snowy weather when vehicles can get stuck off the road in the snow. While with traditional vehicles passengers would be stuck for extended periods of time, walking vehicle like Elevate can just walk out and back be back on the road in no time.

Crazy car! Hoping they demonstrate it on CES... would be awesome for anyone going there. Unfortunately I can't easily go to these events... especially this year (work reasons).

omg that thing is so cool! Just when I think Ive seen it all , this pops up lol This is by far the most unique and interesting vehicle design that I've ever seen. Just based on what I see, it is extremely versatile and can manuver over many types of terrain. I would absolutely love to drive this thing around! Great hunt @geekgirl :)) This is the best hunt
Wow. That is very cool. Very futuristic. As a rescue vehicle it makes a lot of sense. I hope it's not like when I was a kid and we were all promised jet packs that never came though. Lol
