Virtway Events is an immersive virtual platform for events like conferences, trade shows, career fairs, and meetings. It is developed by Spanish startup Virtway and uses most advanced 3D technologies. Event participants can access the platform from their computers and mobile devices.
Event organizers can easily set up their virtual events. Using Virtway Events will cut the costs of events, increase the number of attendees by going beyond the real world limits. I can also see it being used in combination with the real world events by offering participation to more people.
With Virtway Events users can choose their own avatar, and present, talk, and network with each other in real-time simulating the feeling of direct contact and offering a more engaging experience than webinars, video, and conference calls.

This is kind of funny. Its both strange and cool at the same time. A part of me would feel funny watching an avatar thats supposed to represent me, sitting at a virtual conference with other avatars listening to a virtual speaker. But I do also think that it would be more engaging then simply listening on a phone. Overall, Its a pretty innovative idea. Definitly worth a shot to see how people react to it. I agree with you that it would be best utilized in addition to a live conference so that more participants could attend.
