I don't know if you have ever travelled on a journey only to find that your network service provider isn't functional at your new location. Well, if you haven't, I promise you it is a really depressing scenario. If you are someone who is addicted to the internet, you'll feel like a one man on an uninhabited island.
Do you visit cafes or stations just to use the free Wi-Fi? If you need a means of ascertaining where you can get a free hot-spot connection in your locale, then, Open Signal is for you.
Today, I present to you Open Signal, an app with several amazing features which can make your life much easier . I found it while hunting, feel in love with it and ended up downloading it.
These are a few of it's awesome features;
It possesses a coverage checker which can help you ascertain whether or not you can make calls or get quick data at your location
It contains an interactive map of Wi-Fi hotspots which can help you find free Wi-Fi close to your location.
It can provide data to enable you know which network provider works best at your location.
It can provide an history of your mobile connection, letting you get information about your data usage and your connection to 3g or 4g.
With the Open Signal application, you can determine the average speed for downloads, upload and latency as well as network signal.
The data is quite reliable as it is generated from real measurement from various users of the application around the world.
Unlike several other applications you don't have to pay for, it is free of ads.
Demerits:
You can get fewer data on CDMA networks than you can get on GSM networks.
It sometimes zooms in and out unnecessarily.

This is pretty good, I wonder if they have it in China haha. The great firewall of China is constantly battling with my wifi connection, never an easy day
