PIECE is a learning material aimed at children to enable them to learn and understand basic programming concepts.
It consists of 13 modules and 5 types of attachments. A module could be one that detects sounds(Sound module), senses light(Light module), a LED that toggles on/off (LED module), one that vibrates (Vibration module), etc..
By combining those modules, a child could do wonders with his/her imagination. PIECE are configured into 3 modules: INPUT, LOGIC and OUTPUT.
An INPUT could be as simple as a beam of light, a detectable noise, a handclap or a little pressure to the piece while the OUTPUT module include but is not limited to the turning ON of the LED module or the activation of the Vibration module.
The distinguishing factor of PIECE is the LOGIC module. In this part is where the Child will learn basic programming concepts. They will need to think what parts needs to be combined in order to achieve their desired result or to improve it overall.
Personally, I think it is worth every penny. With only JPY 13,824 or $126, a child can test his creativity and improve his problem solving skills all the while learning the basics of programming. At an early age, the parents or guardian can also know if the child is likely to take on the Engineering path, as most kids develop interest based on what they enjoy doing as a kid.
The modules was also designed to be child friendly, wrapped inside a plastic casing as not to hurt or injure children which makes it a perfect gift for young children.

LOGIC module : NOT, AND, OR, TIMER, CONTROL (5 types)
OUTPUT module : LED, MELODY, VIBE, MOTOR DRIVER (4 types)
Others : Power SW module (with microUSB terminal), Battery box (AA battery x 2pcs), Motor, Horn, Extension cable, Hook (12pcs)
Power (sold separately) : Batteries or USB power is required to operation PIECE.
Battery : AA alkaline battery x 2pcs
USB : USB power (connect to micro USB jack)

Hey thanks for the Posting Guideline. I honestly have not read it before and will see to it that the next hunt would be somewehere along the criteria you guys have set. I thought that you just have to explain what the product do. Thanks for the link. XD

This is really interesting. It's great that we have tools such as these available to help kids learn new things. Hands on learning is an effective way and this is what PIECE does.
