OwnTracks is an open source application which is with a twist since it lets you track your location and even your previous travels or getaway, additionally, it allows users to be able to track its friends and family and that is done by virtue of creation of a server which is designed for security and privacy of the users. And this is done by simply authorizing users to track you which are your friends or family, in the same way, they authotize you to track them. This application is completely free to download and use. With the connectivity that it offers to the users, it helps synchronization and estimation of time of arrival/meetup for those who plan to go outdoors or in a travel, thereby resulting to a more convenient and less hassle for users and its friends.

OwnTracks is available for both Android and iOS devices.

For iOS users, here is the download link and for the Github Repository for this release.
Both for Android application, it has an Eclipse Public License v1.0, whereas the latest iOS application has MIT License.

      Wow , nice hunt you got there.
      As per my personal review below :

      Pros:

      • Open source application
      • It allows you to easily keep track your own location
      • You have the option to build your own private location diary which can be shared to your friends and gamily
      • It uses open protocols on communications which makes your data more secure and private

      Cons :

      • None for this application
