Hunter's comment

If you are looking for a small ultralight tablet, then Microsoft's new Surface Go could be for you.

With a thickness of only 0.33 inch and a weight of only 1.15 pounds the small 10 '' tablet should fit in any small bag.

The Microsoft Surface Go comes in two model variants:

  • Variant 1 with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB Flash
  • Variant 2 with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB Flash

The processor is an Intel Pentium Gold 4415Y (Kaby Lake) with 1.6 GHz clock speed and two cores plus Hyper Threading and is passively cooled.

The Surface Go offers a screen resolution of 1800x1200 pixels, support for the Surface Pen with 4096 pressure levels, connections for USB-C, a jack socket for headphones as well as a MicroSD slot, Surface Connector for charging and for the Surface Dock.

The front camera is suitable for logging in-face recognition (Windows Hello) and the camera resolutions are 5 MP (front) and 8 MP (back).

Wireless works in 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi

The operating system is Windows 10 HOME in S mode preinstalled, which can be unlocked for free on the full Windows HOME functionality.

Microsoft Surface Go basic specs

  • Display: 10-inch (1800x1200) IPS, 10-point touch
  • Processor: Intel 1.6GHz Pentium 4415Y (Kaby Lake)
  • Graphics: Intel HD 615 (integrated)
  • Memory: 4GB/8GB
  • Storage: 64GB eMMC/128GB SSD (256GB SSD in the commercial variant)
  • Ports: 1 USB C, 1 Surface Connector, microSD, headphone jack
  • Wireless: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, LTE later in 2018
  • Cameras: 5MP front (Windows Hello-capable), 8MP rear (with autofocus)
  • Battery: 27Wh, estimated 9 hours of battery life
  • Operating system: Windows 10 Home in S Mode (Windows 10 Pro for commercial model)
  • Dimensions and weight: 9.6 x 6.9 x 0.33 inches, 1.15 pounds (tablet), 1.6 pounds (tablet plus keyboard)

Price:

  • Starting at $399 for the Microsoft Surface Go with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB Flash

Optional buys:

  • Separate keyboard in black (for $99) or in burgundy or cobalt or platinum (for $129 each)
  • Surface Pen for $99
  • Surface dock (price unknown)

Pros:

  • Small sized
  • Lightweight
  • Chic

Cons:

  • not known yet

My opinion:

If you are looking for a small and lightweight 10''-tablet then you can't go wrong here. I am not a tech nerd but as I know Microsofts hardware is always working good and as expected.
If I had to decide: I would buy it.

Sorry 😅, it seems like this hunt didn't meet our Steemhunt's Guideline within this section,

Reason

9. No Duplication Allowed

Steemhunt does not allow the same product to be posted twice. The website automatically checks the URL, but it is still your responsibility to check that the product has not been posted earlier. If your product has already been featured from the same brand, the duplication is allowed only when:

  • The product is a newer model (V2) or has been majorly updated from the original one.
  • They are both main products (not accessories or sub-products).

If you think your hunt have a substantial reason to be verified or you’ve updated your post on Steemhunt (by clicking the "edit" button), please comment below or appeal at our Discord channel, here under #mod-joannewong. Thanks 😊

It wasn't hunted later, as I explained earlier in Discord Channel @joannewong.

When I started writing, the product was not listed yet and I had no way to lock it.

It took me several hours to write the huntpost according to the steemhunt guidelines and it wasn't until I published it that I realized that in the meantime a hunt had been released on the same product 5 minutes earlier.

Now you come and tell me that my work was for nothing..
As I said before on Discord: From the users perspective there's something HORRIBLY WRONG with steemhunt.

You at steemhunt, if you want to see higher quality posts in the future, definitely need a feature to lock product names.

I don't feel like exposing me every time (because of a design flaw) to the risk of doing hours of research and writing work and finally not to be recognized for that... (not talking about PAY FOR WORK like in reality)

For now I accept your decision (although I think it was wrong) but it could lead to some uncomfortable consequences...

kind regards
