The HTC Desire 12 Plus has a screen resolution of 1,440 x 720 as its younger brother. However, the Desire 12 Plus has a larger 0.5 inch screen. This means that the Desire 12 Plus has a 268 PPI display, while its smaller brother has a sharper 293 PPI display.
However, this is the only significant concession. The Desire 12 Plus comes with Android Oreo 8.0 and has a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device, unlike the Desire 12.
The greatest strength of the HTC Desire 12 Plus is its flexibility. The 32 GB of internal storage can be extended with microSD cards up to 2 TB. The device even supports two nano-SIMs, although this comes with the cost of using a microSD card.
The HTC Desire 12 Plus has a huge screen that allows the smartphone to duplicate as a tablet replacement as well. The inclusion of support for 2TB microSD and Dual-SIM cards is impressive, but HTC has done little more to make the Desire 12 Plus stand out from its competitors.
The positives on the screen end in their size. The display has a low resolution, which combined with a low maximum brightness and a comparatively weak contrast ratio makes for an overall bad experience. In addition, the screen has a highly reflective finish that makes the Desire 12 Plus impractical for outdoor use on sunny days.
The choice of CPU is adequate, but not impressive. Neither is the battery life, which is much shorter than that of our comparison devices.
The Desire 12 Plus comes with Android Oreo 8.0, which is a newer version of Android than the Desire 12 currently running. The Desire 12 Plus has a fingerprint scanner as well, which is another advantage the device has over its smaller brother. However, the fingerprint scanner takes some time to unlock the device.
