Solar made hydrogen

in #steemhunt5 years ago

Here’s the thing about hydrogen powered cars and heating for homes.

Hydrogen is clean and safe, and the only side affect of using it is the hydrogen combines with the oxygen inside of the fuel cell; resulting in clean water.

The problem with creating fuel read hydrogen is the process in which it’s made; You need a large amount of power to break water into hydrogen and oxygen.

Right now most of that power comes from unclean sources like coal, gas or nuclear power.

Companies are moving toward Solar and Wind sources though... which is where a new breakthrough from KU Leuven in Belgium comes in handy.

It’s a solar panel that converts 15% of its power into Hydrogen...

How much is that? 250 litres of liquid hydrogen per day. More than a tank that a hydrogen powered car takes to fill up.

Twenty panels, according to the website, can fuel the car for a year.

Hydrogen is also storable so you can use the panel all summer and have the hydrogen ready for you in the winter.

It’s a nice deal.
