RAWG is a new website, still in beta in fact, that seeks to become something like the IMDb of video games. That is, a site where you can find the most complete and detailed database of games, from which we can discover new titles, discuss our favorite games and get recommendations.

This may or may not have use for many gamers, but it is an interesting option because it combines all platforms in one place. Those of us who love video games will probably play on more than one console or device, and on Steam you will not discover Switch games, nor on Xbox Live what is the tendency on the PSN.

Its creators started working on RAWG in November 2016, and in May 2017 they launched in closed alpha. Currently they are open to the public and already have a database of more than 52,000 video games and 15,000 creators.

There was no multiplatagram video game recommendation service

Its creators highlight that in the world of books we have things like Goodreads, for movies and series we have IMDb, music has services like Spotify, but in the world of video games each platform has its own store and recommendation system.

Sony does not know your preferences in PC games, nor does Microsoft know what games you like most in the Switch. RAWG seeks to fill that gap by taking into account your experience through all the devices you use to play.

This year they want to double their database and reach 100,000 titles in 2018.

When you enter the site for the first time what you will notice is a pretty eye-catching interface and full of information. The first thing that appears is the games that are trending at the moment.

Below are samples of collections, lists of games made by other members of the community with some common theme. Followed by this are the reviews that have received the most positive votes.

Besides this at the end you find integration with Twitch streams that are broadcasting at that moment. The information continues to pile up, and under this appear prominent profiles of game developers.
This last part seems to me one of the most interesting and unique things of RAWG, because there are few who stop to meet the creators of the videogames they enjoy so much.

The same people behind RAWG comment, while it is easy to name 5 or 10 film directors or actors, for many gamers it is impossible to do the same with those who direct and produce their favorite games.

Another quite useful feature is the catalog of releases, I think there is no other site that combines so much information and also includes a detailed calendar of lots of titles that are coming to Xbox, PS4, Switch, PC, iOS, Android, etc., in the next 12 months.

Although you can connect your profile of Steam, Xbox Live and PSN, this still does not work very well at all and at least in my case it has not imported the games from my library automatically despite waiting a while.

RAWG also has a pretty cool interface, adding games to your personal library is simple and even fun if you have some obsessive touch with quantification. By adding a game you can choose if you want to play it, play it, complete it or leave it unfinished, and then you can choose which platform you played on.

In the page of each game there are lots of information (even YouTube videos), related games, and links to all platforms where it is available if you want to go directly from there to buy. The community is still not very big but there is enough to read, and again, the fact that there are games all in one place, is quite great.
