ENG The lung is an organ that is often assimilated to a large sponge capable of absorbing clean air while eliminating bad air. This sentence can mean a lot of things, as you will see shortly. The lungs are two organs located in the thorax and they are covered with a layer of tissue called pleura. During inhalation, an activity that is possible mainly thanks to the lowering of the diaphragm muscle and the action of intercostal muscles, the lung fills with air and expands; on the other side, during expiration, the lungs are contracted by the diaphragm rising and the air is expelled out of our body. The right lung is divided by two fissures into three lobes, the left one has only one fissure and is then divided into two lobes. The air that arrives during breathing flows from the trachea to the bronchi, up to the smallest pulmonary functional unit, called alveoli. Here the oxygen binds to the red blood cells, while the carbon dioxide is released and is eliminated with the expiration. Contrary to the systemic circulation, venous blood is transported by the pulmonary arteries, while the arterial blood is transported to the heart by the pulmonary veins.
The lungs are therefore the organ of the breath, the one that comes in contact with the air. We often take advantage of a breath of fresh air or just appreciate the clean country air. Smoke, smog, polluting particles: everything we breathe ends up in the lungs, sometimes they even cause various severe diseases.
And finally ... what's better than changing the the scenery? Abandoning an old place, old life, for something new and exciting?

ITA Il polmone è un organo che viene spesso assimilato ad una grossa spugna in grado di assorbire aria pulita mentre elimina aria cattiva. Quest'ultima frase può significare davvero tante cose. In numero di due, i polmoni sono degli organi situati nel torace, ricoperti da un foglietto di tessuto chiamato pleura. Durante l'inspirazione, attività data principalmente dall'abbassamento del muscolo diaframma e dei muscoli intercostali, il polmone si riempie d'aria e si espande; durante l'espirazione invece questo si contrae per la risalita del diaframma e l'aria viene espulsa fuori dal nostro corpo. Il polmone di destra è diviso da due scissure in tre lobi, quello di sinistra presenta una sola scissura ed è diviso quindi in due lobi. L'aria che arriva durante la respirazione, passa dalla trachea ai bronchi, fino ad arrivare alla più piccola unità funzionale polmonare, chiamata acino polmonare o alveolo. Qui l'ossigeno si lega ai globuli rossi, mentre l'anidride carbonica viene ceduta e viene eliminata con l'espirazione. Al contrario della circolazione sistemica, il sangue venoso è trasportato dalle arterie polmonari, mentre il sangue arterioso è trasportato al cuore dalle vene polmonari.
I polmoni sono quindi l'organo del respiro, quello che viene a contatto con l'aria. Spesso traiamo giovamento da una boccata d'aria, oppure apprezziamo a pieni polmoni l'aria pulita di campagna. Fumo, smog, particelli inquinanti: tutto ciò che respiriamo finisce nei polmoni, a volte anche causando diverse malattie. Ed infine...cosa c'è di meglio di cambiare aria? Abbandonare un nuovo posto, la vecchia vita, per qualcuno di nuovo ed eccitante?
Avrete sicuramente tantissimo di cui parlare! Tirate un bel respiro e...sotto a scrivere (o disegnare, filmare, etc.)!
ENG Need some inputs? Thought our lungs goes everything we inhale, like dust, smog, solvents ... but also clean country or mountain air! How about sharing some experiences of your travels with cities with lots of smog or that nice country walk? Even the changes in your life, for the meaning of changing the air you breath, can be fine. If you like scientific posts, there are many diseases that unfortunately affect the lungs .. for everything else, just use your creativity!

ITA Avete bisogni di spunti? Dal polmone passa tutto ciò che inaliamo, polveri sottili, smog, solventi...ma anche aria pulita di campagna o di montagna! Che ne dite di condividere qualche esperienza in merito? Anche i cambiamenti della vostra vita, intesi come cambiare aria, possono andar bene. Se vi piacciono i post scientifici, ci sono numerose patologie che purtroppo interessano i polmoni..per il resto, sbizzarritevi!
