Steemit is Not Currently Worth Writing For. I'm Going to Take a Break.

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

I haven't made so little per post since I was just starting out. I have a lot on my plate at the moment trying to ensure rent gets paid and I can stay in this house, so dedicating some of my time every day to posting on here for 15 to 30 cents no longer seems like an economical allocation of my energy.

I've also been disheartened by discovering people who joined very recently and have just a few hundred followers, making big money. I've been here from the start and used to be doing much better. I'm not sure what changed, that I should fall this far, but I can no longer afford to keep trying. I have to shift my focus elsewhere.

So, I'll be taking a break from this platform until the price of STEEM rises to a level where it makes sense to return. I'm sorry to long time followers who may be disappointed in me, but I have to prioritize projects that can pay my living expenses. Not to worry though, I am not abandoning this site for good.

Having invested so much time and labor into building up this account, it would be a shame to throw it all away. I'll definitely keep an eye on the crypto market and come back when it's doing better. I meant to post this sooner but I wanted to finish the two ongoing stories, so as not to leave anybody hanging.

It's a shame it has come to this. Probably I am not alone in feeling this way, as I've noticed a dropoff in posts by regulars, and many of the people I knew from back in the day haven't posted anything new for months. Is this the end of Steemit? I hope not. I hope it's just a severe drought, and that recovery will soon follow.

My new focus will be on building up my Medium page, and door dash/lyft style odd jobs to keep a roof over my head (At times like this I am glad I invested in an electric car). For me, the Steem dream is not dead, but it is sleeping. I hope I'll see you all again soon.

Stay Cozy!

Sorry, to hear that you have had to abandon regular posting. Hopefully your quest for other sources of income is fruitful. We have had to cut way back on posting also but a big part of that has been due to our other time commitments.

I appreciate it. This has been a push I needed to approach more publishers, enter more writing contests and just generally try harder. Nothing lights a fire under your ass like poverty, haha.

I know how you feel . I feel the exact same way. This is a big reason why I overload myself with work 24/7 so I’m always able to pay the bills while taking advantage of all the good opportunities in front of me. Have you considered maybe spending some free time on just leaving comments? That gets you some votes here and there and it’s a fairly low effort method to make extra Steem while you wait for the price to go back up. Which will hopefully be soon!

We've seen the lows and highs of the platform for sure. Persistence and staying in front of peoples noses is definitely important.

@alexbeyman, there's nothing lost in cross posting or telling us about your lyft passengers; particularly if they're entertaining!

@alexbeyman,
Nope nope nope! I think you might wait till you get your SP back! Otherwise collecting STEEM in this price range is a worthy idea! I know you have that experience!

Cheers~

How unfortunate to come to this rest on your part, I understand that you have had a surprising patience you have written a lot and for so little gain we know that our support is good but not enough to have a safe roof and have a safe sustenance. I hope to have you here soon and continue reading your stories.
I hope they are of terror, but with a suspense that we would like to read it again and again.

Good luck, I only look at how much Steem I am making, not the current value, but I also don't depend on Steem income so it's easier. I would be pissed if I had to sell Steem for 80 cents

What can I tell you, @alexbeyman? I'm one of your new readers, but I'm going to miss your genius, creativity, and even your craziness! I hope I'll be around when you get back. Goodbye! Strong hug

You're always encouraging me, and I appreciate it, but I can no longer ignore the demands of the real world.

Yes. A couple three or four hours work for $.37 is, well honestly , kind of stupid. Certainly if someone has better, more profitable things to do.

What I have seen (and has been commented by others) is that there really are not many followers following. I have 900 followers and about 20 of them are actually still around and honestly following. About 2%. I suspect most accounts not plankton and not whales, have a similar percentage. With lower vote values and less people voting it just seems like starting over.

I keep slogging on, focusing on other things then blogging that do bring rewards my way.

Hope you have a profitable break and a swift return.

I have a full time job so steem is just a hobby for me and right now and I couldn't afford to put more time into it than I already do, at these prices I can definitely understand you needing a break. I really like this platform so I hope it does recover.

I'll miss you man 😕😕😭😭... You're loved ❤️.... Steem will return and I/we wish to see you up and running again, technically you're my favorite steemian. 💯✌️ Goodluck

Stay warm! Looking forward to your return!
