It doesn't matter that Steemit isn't Steem.

Ever since the dark overlord was removed from the Steemit.com frontend there has been a lot of talk about censorship, whether the blockchain is actually decentralized(which i personally do not think it is) and just some general misunderstanding about how connected Steem and Steemit are.

Yes they are 2 different things, Steem is the blockchain. Steemit is a company. Steemit.com is just an interface for you to react to the blockchain.

Now most of the people in the cryptosphere should know this right, You should of done at least a little research into something you're investing time and money in and as such you should be aware that while they are connected they aren't the same.

That connection however is ruining the blockchain and in turn, ruining the growth. See you as a user might know you can see everything from busy or partiko or whatever front-end you choose, but when people spruike steem they are more often than not spruiking Steemit and those who don't know any better, eg new users, are going to see them as the same thing. This means the issues Steemit faces as a company are having a huge impact on Steem as a blockchain and individual economy.

We need to separate the two and we need to make that clear to other people who are coming here. It's not going to matter if they aren't the same thing if people don't want to adopt Steem because of Steemit. It doesn't matter that they aren't the same thing when the failures of Ned and others cast a shadow over our blockchain.

We either need to make it superbly obvious to new users or we need to fix Steemit.com.

Rant over.
