Why I prefer Steemit to Instagram

The video above has always been one of my favourites. A whole load of models strolling up the beach all perfect and unblemished looking. “ What do the most beautiful people in the world drink?” The video then turns to a normal joe soap and the narrator says “The same as all the rest of us ” When this first aired I found it hilarious. But I find the video more fitting in today’s world especially around Instagram. Now I do prefer Instagram over Facebook and I do like Instagram but I find everyone is good looking with a great life and that’s not the real world.
Whenever I open my Instagram app I am bombarded with bikinis , blue skies , sun , sea , yachts , muscles, , big bums and boobs. Now granted I do follow my fair share of Victoria secrets supermodels but it is a bit ridiculous. Some of my friends that I follow are now wearing less clothes and all of a sudden it looks like they are living in some villa down the south of France. (Mary works on the checkouts at Marks & Spencer’s). Let’s do a little test. I will open my Instagram and post the first photo
Blue sky , Check
Blue sea. Check
Nice boobs. Check
Nice bum. I’d believe so so check
Pout. Check.
Now I’m not complaining but I do seem to follow more beautiful people than non beautiful people . I don’t know why. Maybe I was drunk one night and just kept following models . Ok let’s go again .
Ok ! If they are a couple they are the best looking couple I’ve ever seen. The two of them look perfect. But It’s Instagram . Everything perfect perfect perfect.

This gets me onto steemit. For some reason steemit is more honest. People are able to be more open about their situations and circumstances . There is no bluffing on steemit. Steemit is more real life . I have been reading a lot of posts and people really do spill their deep secrets on here . Whether it’s a new platform and they need somewhere to vent , maybe. But I love the honesty of the posts .
I think the pressure on young people today especially on social media with celebrities pasting their perfect life of private jets and exotic locations is not right. Steemit is a much more well rounded social media where young people can interact with people of all walks of life and they may gain some perspective and be happy with their lot. The travel blogs have great photos also and they don’t look like they are sponsored .
Steemit has an opportunity here to grow its user base. It makes me feel happy for what I have in life reading about a goat herder with 0.01Sp and 14.99 delegated, rather than envious that I cannot jump on my private jet and go on holidays.
Amen brother. The creation of unrealistic expectations and there goes snowflake crying because this life is not what's advertised and why the hell can I not just step right onto that yacht and that bod? Hmmmm, no pumpkin, that is just not how it works. Steemit, very nice, hell I've met you and some other awesome people here. Nice piece bud
I think the people who found steemit are all on the same wavelength.

Its right. Look that, like ads, or a serie from brazil, for example. Its a simple fiction, like a random fantasy movie. Dont bothering you, if you see, darth vader has a really cool starship... And why dont have you a same starship, isnt fair...
What is the problem? People, especially the young ones DONT know, this is just a fiction, they believe, its real, true reality. It is, but just for few people. If you are in the 1%, ok. If you dont, its also ok.
Only one thing need, learn recognize the different between reality and fantasy. It not a fault of any socmedia, then the parents, and all the people themself, because most of the humans DONT want to see the reality.
You hit the nail on the head. Suicide is becoming all to common for kids who hit the real world after school. They can’t handle having to fend for themselves nowadays parents are helping their kids well into their 30s.
Time after time I stumble across some "real life" Instagram accounts with unfiltered photos taken on some cheap android phones. As far as I can understand, most of these accounts are from eastern parts of Europe, Russia etc. But even there the human vanity is presented in its full force)
