SteemMonsters Origins [Fire Beetle] | Pyro and The Royal Guard
No Queen meant no allegiance, and Water creatures off the coastline were well aware of this. One by one Beetles were ripped from their homes and either eaten or tossed to the tide. The wielders of water proved to be too much for the lackluster defense of a Queenless Beetle race gone awry, but there was one costly fuse they forgot to douse...
Before the Queen died, she had revealed that Beetles themselves in fact wield great power. Those born with wings are chosen to wield the spirit of flight, but beyond that Beetles can harness the power of true Elemental magic if they will to do so!
In the midst of all the Water colonies and their destruction, a select few Beetles whom once represented the Royal Guard learn to guide emotion and harness power the Queen revealed them to possess. To be a Royal Guardsman one needed wings and warrior spirit, and because this is such a stringent and durable set of soldiers, only a few exist in the entire world!
One of these Royal Guardians is named Pyro, and he is supposedly the strongest Beetle in existence. Pyro wields the Element of Fire, and his flame can't be expelled so long as his brothers live. It is fabled that Pyro and his Royal brothers were physically stronger than the other Beetles, and with their ability to fly they could easily protect the Queen from even the most nimble of ground foes. Once the Queen passed away the brothers banished themselves to a deep meadow, a place they could harness their rage into a formidable weapon.
Pyro was the first to show signs of the Spark, his brothers stood in awe as his wings melted and transformed into permanent flames. Pyro's black anguish turned to a red warmth, and he realized the power of Fire was his! His brothers observed the metamorphosis and one by one.. they too changed. The rage of a thousand forefathers and the Queen before them burned bright, and they set out of the meadow one fateful night to turn the tides of war!
Weeks upon months of damage were claimed by the coastline Water creatures, and the Royal Guard bretheren set out for vengeance on every single one of them. Countless Spineback Turtles and Crustacean Kings were found chomping on Beetles when the Royal Guards encountered them, but those battles didn't last long as the searing flames of Royal wings cut through shell and bone as a knife does to butter. It is fabled that Pyro and his brothers infilitrated a pirate ship after setting the sea ablaze with flame and Sabre Shark blood. The Pirate Captains had no chance as the Fire Beetles set flame to every ship in the vicinity... no mercy for the wicked!
An allegiance to the Queen keeps the Fire Beetle's flame burning bright, and even the strongest of Water wielders can be felled by this race of magic bug. As long as one brother of Fire burns bright, they all burn bright... and if you run into a pack of these Fire Beetles, prepare for a fiery death!
