Radiotron - A Hip Hop history lesson on the movie Breakin
Club Radio aka Radiotron in the early 80s was located in Macarthur Park, Los Angeles. Radiotron was the reason why Breakin made a movie about it.
The producers came to the club and saw it and they said "we gotta make a movie about this". It was directed by Joel Silberg
Me and ICE T was the headliners/entertainment of the radio.
It was mostly me and Ice T but The Radio Crew was formed when we made a movie called "Breaking and Entering" the first hip hop documentary ever .
Topper Carrew the producer made a crew out of the radio for the documentary. It was me Ice T, Egyptian Lover, & Super AJ.
Ice was the rapper and I was the DJ. It was THEE club where you could see the biggest Hollywood celebrities. To give you an example, All those dudes you see in the Michael Jackson video Thriller was from Radio. He came to the radio specifically to recruit them.
Everybody wanted to become part of the radio because it was that HOT. It was from 11 to 5am. Radio was the sports arena it was the place where all the dance crews belonged.
The difference between the radio and Breakin is that the radio had celebrities there. We talking about Madonna, Prince, Michael Jackson etc.
Keep in mind that this 1983, no phones, no internet and the word hip hop wasn't even popular, so you HAD TO BE THERE

How interesting, it is like knowing the history of a movie, from another point of view, where others were the protagonists to support the success of these films. Besides knowing that you were the DJ, of movies of that time, that I liked and dance a lot and I can also say hello, it's incredible.
It is always important to know new things.
