STEEM POWERING THE FUTURE

I began this journey in late November, 2017, not having any idea what cryptocurrencies were, or even that blockchain technology existed, not to mention, a social networking platform based on such a technology. I stumbled upon steemit from an investment subscription I just so happened to purchase at random one day. It was one of those investment subscriptions with a money back guarantee. Of course, I just paid the standard baseline fee, waited a couple weeks, and then canceled my subscription. From this, I learned about a monetized social media platform, and ever since I have been gradually building a long-term investment on the STEEM blockchain in the form of SP.

STEEM, in my opinion, has the potential to change the game, and I truly believe this to be the case. The emergence of DApps on the STEEM blockchain is paving way for the future of this platform. The arrival of SMTs will be a whole new ball game, creating a level of unseen exclusiveness. The opportunities are essentially endless, and all of us building our empires and engaging within the ecosystem are really here early, if you ask me. We have to realize that something of this magnitude takes time. What we do have going for us is a proof of stake. It obviously works. It might not work well, but what we do know is that it works. It’s just like anything else – time will pave the way for improvements, ideas, adoptions, and new innovations to emerge from the woodwork's. Everything taking place from steemmonsters and steemhunt to partiko and dcommerce (to name a few) is setting the early foundations for what’s to come.

With @taskmaster4450 long-term vision looking toward 2025, imagine what this place may look like. I’m imagining a place with a more user-friendly environment: easier discoverability of content and users, a communication system similar to other social media platforms build into the ecosystem, a steem referral system like @partiko recently came out with, among several other high-level advancements. Onboarding is an essential component of bringing people to the platform, but what good does onboarding do if new users are unlikely to remain active for more than one month’s time. Clearly more pertinent issues like content visibility and overall exposure need addressed before onboarding initiatives scare away users that could have potentially been future prospects. In order to grow this thing to the magnitude we all wish to see, we have to start within, and then work our way outward. In other words, we have to start with the fundamentals of improving the internal components of the system, followed by bringing new users on board.

For the users that are already here, we have to start somewhere. I started with a small initial investment of 75 SP and have grown my account to over 2,600 SP with small individual investments along the way. And look at @daltono as another prime example. The dude is literally relentless. He has invested very little of his own money and has managed to accumulate over 8,000 SP in just over a year! Talk about some hard work and dedication. For those of us that are here, too, we have the responsibility of helping smaller accounts with little SP. It takes time, energy, and effort, but in the end, it will be all worth it, at least this is the hope.

It is just like any other investment, and calculated risk certainly cannot be ignored. STEEM could be overtaken by another blockchain will similar capabilities like TRON or EOS, but STEEM certainly has the edge right now. There is a lot of good going on around here, but there is also some bad mixed in. If we can filter through the bad and surface the good, then this place has the potential to bring basic income to people all around the globe. And we are already seeing this happen. STEEM is a full-time job for some steemians, and they rely on the money they earn to keep them afloat. A minute fraction of the world knows about what is happening here, but I think this will certainly change as we continue to lay the foundations for those to come.
