Curie Releases the Ultimate Curation Tool - Steemlookup.com (Tips & Tricks Inside!)
There's a new curation tool in town, it's called Steemlookup. Check out their introduction post and give it some love. This has to be one of the most feature-rich filtering tools for the Steem blockchain, especially useful for people who want to discover exceptional content.
Finding Good Content
Steemlookup allows you to filter out specific content, based on the parameters you've set in advance. On the left hand side, you'll see a bunch of filters, which you can adjust to only view specific types of content. It's extremely easy to use and you'll also have the ability to exclude certain users, tags and words. I'll offer some possible use-cases below to get you started.
Maximizing Curation Rewards
@gmichelbkk made an excellent post on how to maximize your curation rewards. You're basically getting most curation rewards when you are one of the first of five upvoters, after the 30 minute mark of when the post was created. I really suggest you go read @gmichelbkk's post!
We can set the parameters of Steemlookup to find posts that have been published around 30 minutes ago, while also filtering out posts that have not received any rewards. This would allow you to maximize curation rewards, since you're able to filter out posts with possible high rewards in the future.
Filtering out content, based on the number of comments it has already received, could also be a good indication that a post will receive additional upvotes in the future.
Finding Undervalued Content
With these parameters, we're looking for posts that were created between 6 and 7 days ago. You can easily convert seconds into days and vice versa, by just typing in Google '7 days in minutes'.
We're only interested in posts that have a minimum of 400 words and have a total payout of less than 2 SBD. You can easily adjust these options to your liking
I have noticed that it does take quite some time to apply these more complex filters. Filters that yield huge result sets are a lot slower. (Credits to @carlgnash for mentioning this in the comments)
Find Spam Content
In this example, we're looking for posts from authors with a reputation of at least 30, who post content made up of only a single picture, with less than 20 words.
I've limited the search to only show posts of maximum a day old, this helps with performance. In this case, I wanted to focus on posts that have at least 0.5 SBD in post rewards.
This is far from a perfect example, but you can see that we can filter out the obvious spam posts pretty easily. In this case, we're targeting spammers who've made money and have not yet been downvoted (hence looking for rep >30).
Conclusion
I would really like to see a lot of people make use of this tool, it could greatly improve the status of Steemit if more people engaged in curation. One of the things I'm personally going to try out, is try to find undervalued content close to the 7 day mark and show it some support.
I'd love to see other people come up with different use-cases, as I've only scratched the surface with mine. I'm sure that this will become a standard curation tool for many Steemians.

Exciting new toy
Dear Daan, thank you so much for spreading the word.
Months of developing are invested in this tool, and I'm so proud and happy to see so many encouraging comments.
Of course, there are some bugs, and lots of improvements still have to be done, we are receiving huge number of mails with ideas and proposals.
It all started 5 months ago, as a hobby, and that Lookup was nothing like this one. We only stored posts for 24 hours, and had only basic filters. People tried it out, liked it, and started giving their opinions what should be done.
Now, it's not a hobby anymore, we have to handle huge and growing database, and huge and growing number of users. We are getting some serious improvement proposals, that require huge effort. Now, even replying to mail has become serious job.
We have some amazing ideas in front of us, such us collecting all time Steemit content, providing statistics about authors such as graph of their previous payouts, or activity, then ability to exclude/include posts/authors by certain upvoters, which can be useful if you want to exclude authors who are paying for votes, and many more other features.
But, although this all is doable, it requires huge amount of time, and some advanced machines.
Bugs, such as, tool being slow sometimes, or incorrect data for older posts because we can't afford to refresh all of the posts in our database, arise from the fact that we are technically limited, at the moment. We need more powerful machines, need more support.
I believe that this tool should be of huge importance for Steemit, and I hope that some of the important people will notice this, and understand its value, and help us keep it running and improving it. For now, we have only Curie's support, and no outside support, donations or funding of any kind, and Steemlookup is growing at an incredible pace.

I think you guys have done an amazing job already, the possibilities for this tool are really endless. If there's anything I can do to help you get better servers or anything? I'm sure you can find a way to crowdfund the needed resources. I'm definitely willing to give a donation in the form of STEEM, SBD or even a small delegation.

Great post, and in particular great suggestion to use it to find posts for maximizing curation rewards. Being the first, or one of the first couple, of votes on a decent post that has 0 payout when you vote it is absolutely one of the best ways to maximize your curation return (figuring out how to front run the huge votes like utopian, dtube, curie, et al is of course the other tried and true method but is less accessible to most people who don't have ability to script something to do it automatically).
RE the "slow" aspect, that is less of a bug and more the result of filter parameters that yield HUGE result sets. E.g. the one you specifically comment on for posts 6-7 days old, payout less than $2, 400+ words... has over 40,000 results currently (see screencap below)! That isn't going to return lightning fast, no. In general, better to set filters that narrow the result set down a lot farther than that, but if you want to do such general filters you are of course going to see it take a while to return results.
I've updated my post, just so I don't spread any misinformation. I'd also like to apologize in advance for any grammatical errors made in this post, English isn't my native language. Just hope I've done this project justice by writing this post.
Also, 'pending payout' are SBD values, right? That was another thing I wasn't 100% sure about.
Edit: Are you sure that 'total results' is correct? I don't think it gets updated before it has completed the query and I get 40k results standard when I open the home page.

This is very cool! Thanks for sharing this. It looks like they have put together a tool that has a lot of function and use. It will be interesting to see how this grows over time.
It still has some bugs atm, kinda slow when you're using certain filters. I really hope it'll get better eventually :)

This tool looks a bit like ginabot. But then only for content search. For now I stick with ginabot and cleaning up my own feed.

You're right though, with all the references, it's quite a lot of information to process. I can't do it any other way though, just because I'm adamant to include every source in my article.

This is a great tool. Speed is always an issue when you perform blockchain searches. The number of available filters is just amazing.
