Suggestion for Busy.org and steemit.com (A customised separation system to make users blog/posting page more user friendly and look more professional).

in #steemit6 years ago

The simple concept of steemit is that you are able to use it as a blog where you get to post whatever you want. This is really nice as it allows users to post/blog about many different topics. I for one have been on here since May 2016 (start of my original account,@dragonslayer109) thus I have seen many different changes in steemit and to the main sections of steemit: HOT, TRENDING, NEW, PROMOTED. But there haven't been many changes in the actual blog section of a specific user.

Specific to steemit, we see a lovely system that filters your comments and replies into different tabs making it easier for that user to quickly check out comments and replies. This is a really useful system as users which post often are then able to navigate straight to the comment they need to reply to, without having to look through their different posts to find where the comment that was made.

On busy.org you have a very similar system with two main tabs Discussions, Comments.

Many people love to resteem/re-blog other peoples posts which they like, but what if they did this too much and cluttered their blog. So I had the idea to filter the blog page better to make it easier to use for people wanting to look at posts from a specific user.

@anotherjoe,the user above is a typical example of this clutter, as a user I want to read what this person has said, but first I need to navigate through all the resteemed posts to find the personal posts. Fixing this problem is very simple; as a filter that is used every day can be used in the same way.

Similarly we can use this kind of filter in the blog/discussion section, in the personal blog section of a user, as well as their feed section. Thus when you want to have a look at posts from specific users you are able to hide the clutter and navigate straight to what you want with ease.

But while I was figuring out this solution to this problem I stumbled onto something else. Many users post about many different things. Tags seem to help users find topics they want to read about, but looking for a specific user in that tagged area is really difficult.

The idea is simple; create separation, instead of going to Discussions/Blog and having to scroll down millions of posts just to find one you are looking for, we rather organise it better into "folders" or "tabs" that filter out the different posts into their "folder" or "tab". To make an automatic "folder" or "tab" section can be difficult and users might want to have their own customised system of folders or tabs.

Everyone customises their computers differently, all their applications and important documents are separated to make it easier for them to navigate their way around their computer. While thinking of this I decided to do a bit of research, I wanted to find out what a professional blog looks like and what they key elements are inside it. This is when I found this website below:
https://firstsiteguide.com/examples-of-blogs/

The title at the top is: 10 Examples of Popular and Successful Blogs

While going through it I found some examples of what would fix the problem mentioned above and it was exactly the idea I had in mind. Here are some screen shots:

As you can see above "A CUP OF JO" has different topics under it: Style, Food, Design, Travel, Relationships, Motherhood. Going through their blog I was really impressed with the layout of everything and how user-friendly her blog was. I could find exactly what I was looking for from this author/blogger

This next example: Department of Wandering had something even better, very similar to the above example they had tabs at the top and then under each main tab there were more tabs making my experience even nicer. This would be really helpful for those users who blog and post a lot of different things about a particular topic.

Steemit/busy has many unique features which could be used to take these layouts (of popular blogs) to a whole new level. Also by allowing users to customise their personal blog we can get a completely different and diverse feel than any other blogging platform out there. Thus with this unique professional feel and look about steemit/busy plus the "Post your blog and earn" we will be able to attract quality content creators, thus adding more value to this large social community and value to the STEEM blockchain and our specific cryptocurrency.

A very good suggestion!

I have found it really discouraging to resteem many people's posts as it burries my personal blog.

The idea you are suggesting is really great or they could just add another tab just after blog near comment and call it resteems.....this would help differentiate from personal and resteems.

Yes I agree with you 100% :)

if busy can add a scheduling the post feature that would be an amazing addition too

Many of the auto bots have it steemauto is pretty good to use

It would be an added value to find your own previous posts.

Idea given by @jaraumoses is excellent, people would then not hesitate to resteem due to not being on topic or due to reasons mentioned in your content above.
