From Zero To Hero - How To Build Up Your Account From The Ground - Part 1

in #steemit5 years ago

First of all, don't take the first part of the title very seriously, that is just a saying, I don't want to be a hero, nor want fame for myself.

I'd like to share a few thoughts about building up your account from zero, for those who are at the beginning and maybe need some guidance regarding how to grow their account, how to fill your wallet with this so desired cryptocurrency called Steem and how to avoid common mistakes.

Some of you may know, I have a second account that I created about two weeks ago to separate my actifit activity from my main account. You can read my post about it here My New Alt-Account For Actifit And How To Transfer Your Delegation To Your Alt-Account

Newly registered users are given a 15 Steem credit, which is gradually withdrawn as they start to earn.

Because this was my second account, I had to pay 3 Steem to create it or the second option would have been paying for it with Resource Credit (RC). I chose to pay 3 Steem because I can't afford to lose RC now which is very important for curation.

So after claiming my second account my wallet was totally empty, which means I couldn't do anything. I chose to transfer 3 Steem from my main account to my second account so I can start my activity. Why not more? I'm holding 2800 Steem right now so I could have delegated or just transferred any amount of Steem but i didn't want to transfer more than 3 Steem. Why? You're going to find out in the next part of my post. I had a very good reason, believe me.

I've been here for roughly 13 months now and still remember how the beginning was for me on Steemit. With that 15 Steem credit from Steemit I was happy for about a week or so, after that bandwidth problems started to appear. For those of you who are new, before Hardfork20 was implemented, there was bandwidth instead of resource credit.

So after Steemit took back the 15 Steem credit (the honeymoon was over), I was on my own, had to balance my bandwidth carefully, which meant I could not post when I wanted to, had to wait till there was enough bandwidth to do it. This restriction has thought me to plan ahead and be prepared when the time comes. Thank God Busy.org had a draft feature, which came very handy at that time. I had drafts ready a day before so I can post them when bandwidth allowed it.

The difference between me and a newly registered user now is that I have the 13 months experience which allows me to choose the best solution possible and act wisely based on my previous experience, which new users don't have.

Now things has changed, bandwidth has been replaced by RC and mana. My initially invested 3 Steem was enough for about 25% resource credit (I hope I'm not mistaken), which meant 1 post and after posting my first post my RC went back to nearly zero. Now you need to know that comments are equal with posts and take as much RC as a post.

I had some business to finish with the actifit team, they had to transfer my delegation to the second account that took a day or two, which allowed my recourse credit to recharge. Recharging is not happening very fast when your SP is very low, after two days my RC still wasn't fully recharged.

I finally made my first post, which knocked my RC down to almost zero. Not exactly the ideal situation as I knew I have to let it rebuild before I can post again and as you know, actifit posts have to be made before midnight, otherwise you lose your chance to log your training and lose the afit tokens you could earn. With no RC I wasn't able to comment or vote on any other account or reply which was a bit frustrating. I'm used to comment on many post without having to worry about my RC.

New users often confuse things or just don't know that upvoting a post on Steem blockchain is not the same as giving a like on other social media platforms. As much as we want to upvote other users post, upvotes have to be made carefully at the beginning, till you can afford to upvote every post and comment you like.

I've already written a novel, so the first part ends here. In the next part I'm going to write about my strategy, how I'm planning to grow my account and I'm also going to share a few tips about how to grow your account when you're at the beginning.

Én miért nem találtam ilyent, mikor friss regisztrációs voltam? :D

Newbie here. Its overwhelming to get a hold of what all of these things meanm i thinj i still dont know what to do with SBF or steem tokens or steem power 🤯

Then you're in the right place at the right time. Stay tuned, I'm going to write about it in the next part.

I really don't know what SBF is but the Steem tokens you can exchange using blocktrades from your wallet, you can transfer them to exchanges or you can power them up. Steem Power is equal with your voting power and your voting value. The more SP you hold the more "power"/value you will have on posts when voting. You can power down that Steem and transform it into liquid Steem but it takes 13 weeks for the whole process to be completed.

Hahhaa my eyes are spiralling

Well...mine too sometimes. We all get through this at the beginning.

Hahha yes I know. At the moment i just concentrate on creating content and interacting with people. The rest I dont even look at

Great write up. About actifit I can say that I've installed it two days ago, it hasn't counted my steps while in background, I opted for some "aggressive mode" for background activity but it hasn't worked either. I also noticed that it counts steps when it shouldn't and I assume the stats will be over appreciated this way. For some seems to work fine though. I gave it a second try though and it has disappointed me again. It's not the first time I dedicate my time to it but probably the last. Unfortunately my Samsung Health app doesn't work anymore and I wanted to track my steps to see how much do I walk daily.

Wait, don't give up on it yet. I had the same problem. There's a phone build in setting, that shuts apps down when the screen is turned off. I'm going to help you fix it in about an hour or so.

OK. Thanks.

Here's a video, try to find those settings he's talking about.

If you can't, please try to Google "How to turn off battery optimization on (your phone type) devices"
If you can't, let me know what kind of device you are using and I'll go ask for help on discord.

Thanks. I have installed the app again and excluded it from optimization and now works while in background. I will have tomorrow as a full day to test it. Now I don't see myself walking that much. I appreciate your effort.

You're welcome. let me know if you need any further help and enjoy 👟 actifit 🙂

If everything works well I will post my first actifit report tomorrow.

Fingers crossed, I'm looking forward to it! 🤞

Really useful info.
Is there a way to link up the second part to this post? Couldn't have an in-depth search yet but you also have no link on yours yet. Will you add a link when the second part's published or is that impossible/not recommended?

Thank you. Yes, I'm going to link here the next parts that are going to come soon.
