STEEMIT: Just a Friendly Advice - Remove Downvote Option
Do you like being downvoted? I guess not, so why should you downvote others if you don't like being downvoted in the first place!? My suggestion for Steemit would be to completely remove the downvote option, and I think many of you will agree.
One of the main rules in life that I like to stick to is “Don't do unto others what you do not want done to you.” Keeping the flag option is totally OK and reasonable because of so many shitposts and plagiarism, but it shouldn't reduce the amount of money a Steemian earned, it is not fair and it is barbaric to do so.
Just take Facebook for example, they don't have dislike button and they will probably never have it, but in case they do implement that option, then Steemit will definitely have to remove downvote option! (Please Steemit, if you hear me, don't ever become like Facebook.) Facebook does have different reactions that you can choose from, but they don't have dislike button because they are advertised as a social and FRIENDLY network. Steemit is also social networking platform, but downvote option makes it not so friendly at all. Everybody deserves to earn money!
Just imagine how would you feel if somebody takes your money from you just because they don't like your post, no matter how good it is. Even good quality posts are getting downvoted sometimes and it hurts me to see that. Jealousy and/or being offended is not a good reason to downvote!
Shout out to all the witnesses of Steemit, this post is dedicated to you guys, because you're the only ones who can make this happen. I hope you'll have a heart and make this possible.

@fbslo explained why are rewards removed from downvoted posts, this way I want to thank him for doing so. But I am still against from removing rewards, and I suggest some workarounds on Steemit:

Agreeing with @themarkymark and @fbslo, flags are a way to control the reward pool two way. Sometimes you have the power to undo one bad action but not the power to compensate it with thousands of good actions.
This is an old argument and the discussion result is always the same. Flags are here for a reason and the money is only yours after 7 days. The whole point of it is to create a validation of all posts and that needs both forces up and down.
I am more in favor of a separate downvote pool that would promote using them. Would remove some of the stigma and make people flag bad content without loosing money.
I don't know, but I'm sure there is a better way. I was never actually downvoted as far as I know, but I really feel sorry for people who were. I know that there will be a better way some day, it's all matter of time. :) ✌

I actually agree with removing the down-vote option or at least the monetary effects it has. Keep it for reputation purposes. I have never nor do I ever plan on down-voting anyone.If an online post bothered me that much I would simply not up-vote or not visit the persons blog again.

It's needed because steemit community regulared - don't piss people off - don't plagiarize - put serious effort in and you won't get slapped with a flag. I do agree that petty flagging is unfair and there should be some kind of review process by a governing account with a lot is steem power that could counter a flag if they seemed it unfair but aside from that the flags are needed.
Flagging option is needed, I agree with you, but taking away somebody's money is definetely not needed and it is very unfriendly thing to do.

I don't agree. If we remove flags steem will be 99.99999% spam. This is only think that prevent spammers from spamming too much. Facebook have team of people that remove abusive content, but steem is blockchain based and no one can remove anything from blockchain.
You didn't read it right. I said that it is OK to leave flagging option, but it shouldn't take away money from people.. I don't know why is this implemented on Steemit, there would be much more users if you guys remove the option to reduce money from post, it will result in larger Steemit community and more money for everyone, and value of Steem and Steem Dollars would dramatically INCREASE.
Flagging without "removing rewards" is useless, because spammers still get rewards.
Reward pool is limited to ~50,000 STEEM per day, so If spammer get more, other users get less.
But if spammer is already flagged, then it makes almost no difference, less people would upvote his/her posts. Maybe some workaround can be made, for example a limit on rewards for spammers.. Just saying man, anything would be better than how it is right now, people are getting downvoted for unexplainable reasons and money from those posts is reducing even if it's a good quality post. There are some bots that downvote posts with bought votes. People have right to buy votes, so what, if it's a good quality post it is OK, it deserves attention, and this way we can earn money (I guess this is mining) and we have all rights to do so.
