Steemit Inc. created Steem, and has a lot of Steem, and Steem Power. They also own the account @steem. They delegate some Steem Power to users that don't have much. (And are created through their system)
That way:

  • These users have enough bandwidth to do actions
  • The votes of new users aren't nothing
  • New user votes are accepted by the blockchain (if you don't have enough SP, you can't vote)

Steemit Inc. does this for free, presumably to increase the value of the large amount of Steem and Steem Power they hold.

Thanks, we got a winner already!   : )

Your last post and the next 4 posts that you'll publish will be resteemed for free. Enjoy!

PS. Just a doubt. My question does not refer to the initial amount that you get when you open a new account, I'm talking about an incoming delegation received this morning (as per screenshot). Just making sure we are on the same page.
Thanks @smitop

UPDATE: other good answers will get the 5 free resteems subscription too.
