My Two Years On Steemit

Today is my two year anniversary on Steemit!

That's right, I was one of the early adopters of Steemit. As you can see from my ID Number, I was the 8,185th account to sign up.

Since many of the early adopters on Steemit were cryptocurrency miners like myself, one person might have 10 or 20 accounts because that's how you maximized your mining efforts. So factoring that in, I would say it's safe to guestimate that I was one of the first 1000 actual people to sign up on Steemit.

Even though I was one of the first people on Steemit, I started off pretty slow. I spent most of my first year here just reading other peoples posts. I would leave the occasional comment, and was able to make a few really good friends. But I never really engaged too heavily on the platform.

That all changed almost a year ago. First Hard Fork 19 changed the way rewards were calculated, making it easier for us little fishies to get a morsel. Then @papa-pepper started his Steem-pocalypse Survival Games which were a lot of fun to play. Time and again, season after season, I would fight through the obstacles @papa-pepper devised, sometimes coming close to grabbing the brass ring before plunging into a bottomless gorge, other times dying of disease on the first round. No matter how the contests turned out, they were a lot of fun to be a part of and helped keep me interested in being part of Steemit.

Next @fingersik started a contest called Dungeon and Steem. It sounded like a great idea, matching old and new passions of mine, so I jumped at the chance to participate. After several months of game play, I finally emerged victorious. @fingersik has said that he would be incorporating elements of the game into a fantasy novel he is writing and I look forward to one day reading it.

But the biggest change in my engagement on Steemit occurred when I accidentally bumped into a person named @scrooger in a little community he started call @followforupvotes. You see @scrooger is one of those rare people you meet who has a real passion about helping minnows to thrive on Steemit. @followforupvotes was an experiment in community building that he started to try to keep minnows involved in Steemit so that they didn't lose interest and move on to other platforms.

@scrooger continued experimenting with communities, creating @make-a-whale, @feedyourminnows and finally his crowning achievement @qurator. If you don't know what @qurator is, click the banner below to learn more or check out it's blog. If you're a minnow who is having a hard time getting traction on Steemit, you owe it to yourself to check out @qurator and learn how it can make your time spent on Steemit more enjoyable and profitable.

Until next time...

Congratulation my dear

Happy anniversary Brother, and thanks for all the support you shown me. You are appreciated........and frikin old.......a whole two!!!!!

Thank you! One of my greatest joys on Steemit is stumbling across a kindred spirit's blog, like yours. Not only do you constantly provide great tips and recipes, but I truly enjoy our little banter. And yes, I am old... and wise! Yeah, that's it Wise!

Thank you Brother. The feeling is mutual and I too enjoy our banter. What I don't like is feeling old, so, I'm hoping when I achieve the "wisdom" part of old it becomes the dominant aspect 'cause my joints are killin me!!!!!

Two years!? Congrats!!
Wowww you must be the oldest person I know here. :)
I am getting close to my 1st year anniversary.

Thank you. Old and Wise, I keep telling people that, I just wish they would start believing me. I'm looking forward to celebrating your 1 year anniversary next month.

Wow 2 Years! Congrats mate, it truly has been a long time. Glad you are still around after all this time. My 1 year is coming up pretty soon!

Thank you so much for the shout out. I remember you were one of the 1st people to support some of my little projects. You did motivate me to become better. Even though my projects are far from perfect it is still fun to keep them going. Thanks a lot mate! Here is to another year here on steemit!

Had to remove my vote from the Qurator trail and give you my 100%

Thanks @scrooger. I wish I had a million SP so I could give you and @qurator the upvotes I feel you truly deserve as a thank you for all you've done for me.

Wish I had a million SP too! =P

That could really make a change in this community. So many things happened since I first joined but so far it looks like it is going a bit South.... Will keep doing my thing though. Onwards! Hope HF20 brings some real game changers

Buddy congrats as one of the early adopters of the Precious Steem in Steemit.

A lot have changed and that is indeed great GREG , to be a follower of yours and getting positive suggestions from you and you did helped a lot buddy, that means a lot.

While Happy 2nd Birthday out in here.Hope the coming days may bring much more Steem and FRIENDS for you in these community :)

Thanks @rehan12 I appreciate your continuous support. I'm looking forward to what the next year will bring.

Great little recap of your time here in Steemit! I will have to check out @papa-pepper and his survival games. Are those still running?

I wish I had more time for engagement on Steemit as I KNOW that is how you get better reputation even though I post consistent high quality content.

I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary in a month or so, you have inspired me to do a similar post!

Unfortunately, @papa-pepper stopped running the Steem-pocalypse games. I think they became so popular that he couldn't manage them as well as he wanted to. But he still has a couple other contests that he runs from time to time.

ahh ok, that explains why I couldn't find them! Seemed fun!

Wow this awesome you were the first one here before anyone else wow and what a great journey this has been for you :D many congratulations keep going

Thank you and thank you for your support this last year.
