Love At First Sight Doesn't Actually Exist!

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

I personally believe in love at first sight and experienced it. It is a divine pure love and the only true deep romantic love I know. Casually crushing on someone is an unfamiliar concept to me. I either feel nothing toward someone, or I feel way too much and cant control my feelings. I dont have a special type that I am looking for and anyone can spark my interest at any time. When I see someone and feel physically attracted, like the way he talks and thinks, thats enough for me. Casual dating never worked out with me. I cant imagine myself dating someone for a while and trying to figure out my feelings towards him. Everything should work out from the first minutes or never. If I like someone, means I like that person a lot and want to see that person everyday. I start fantasizing about our future together and can never stay in the moment, because my mind will be always lingering toward what’s next.

Two strangers see each other on the street, there is an instant attraction and suddenly they have found their match and never look back. It's a strong initial attraction that could later become a relationship. Usually when a man and women approach each other there will be some sort of eye contact and physical attraction. We don’t fall for everyone you meet, but when we do find someone we are interested in, we feel ourselves spiraling into obsessive thoughts without even knowing that much about the person yet.

Psychologists at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands scientifically investigated the phenomenon to try and work out whether the common rom-com trope is real. Researchers conducted their study on 396 participants, roughly 60 per cent of whom were women, most were heterosexual and the vast majority were young Dutch and German students.

Via an online survey, participants were asked questions about their current romantic relationship (if they were in one). They were then shown pictures of various strangers and asked to rate their attraction to them, noting any feelings of love, including intimacy, passion, commitment and “eros”, which is measured by statements such as: “I feel that the person and I were meant for each other”.
They were also asked whether they felt that they were “experiencing love at first sight.”

Two further studies were conducted which involved speed dating, where participants either spent 90 or 20 minutes getting to know each other. Again, they were asked their feelings for their potential partners.
Taking the results of all the tests into consideration, 32 participants (most of whom were men) described 49 experiences of love at first sight.
However this was strongly linked to finding the other person incredibly physically attractive - with every point increase on the five-point attraction scale, a participant was nine times more likely to report love at first sight.

“To conclude, our findings suggest that love at first sight reported at actual first sight resembles neither passionate love nor love more generally,” the researchers said.
They believe that what we think is love at first sight is in fact “a strong initial attraction that some label as ‘love at first sight’ – either retrospectively or in the moment of first sight.”
Interestingly, the participants who were in a relationship at the time of the study and believed they’d fallen in love with their partners at first sight reported higher levels of passion in their relationship than those who didn’t say they fell in love at first sight.

Love is a part and parcel of a life... Love is different things.. You can prosper in life by your true love. So best of luck for you @hanen. keep it up.

Thank you Dear :)

I beleive love at first sight is kind of puzzle, It may called certain attraction for making with some one, For building love on someone you must need to take time and trust. Time is vise verca of love at first sight. anyway good explenation, Loved it

You are right, trust is important and very difficult in such situations. But sometimes it works out :)

The ambience adds great detail to the aesthetics of the picture... Love it as always Hanen. Keep it up!

Thank you :)

Love is different from falling in Love.

I recommend Eckhart Tolle Power of Now to learn the differences and be aware of being in Love with someone when the Love was more about the moment and how our minds sticks to that.

Any kind of study should start understanding basic things like this or stop “making conclusions” due those only put more confusion where should been Presence.

I can sound cathegoric but I’m talking by my own true experience and nowadays I’m in Love with myself (my own Self) which is far away to egoism or loneliness etc etc etc.

Deep talk and deep inner work not suitable for a short steemit blog post or even shorten steemit response.

Anyways great post @hanen due it made me revisit Tolle’s videos and Love you a bit more ;)

Thank you! You are doing great, because loving ourselves is more important than loving others. I will check this video today. And yes you can write a blog about it :)

Maybe I should but at the moment I enjoy loving (and curating) others wonderful blogs <3

I am JUST like you in my beliefs on this. I believe "love at first" is the deepest and best, and has the best chance of long-term success. Great little article, my friend!

I am glad to find someone supporting this theory :)

Oh, 100%...I mean I suppose others fall in love gradually and have successful long-term relationships too, but..well, life is too short for that!

Everything should work out from the first minutes or never.

I believe in love at first sight but I still believe people can fall in love over time.

It happens with other people, but not with me :)
