Why do so many people leave steemit?

in #steemit6 years ago

Hello steemians I hope you are very well, I have days thinking about why the dropout rate of new users in steemit is so high. The first thing that occurred to me was "they leave the accounts because they do not earn money" and of course everyone will say that is obvious, that is the reason why they leave the accounts.

But 99% of Facebook, Twitter and Instagram users do not earn money.

It is true, if we compare steemit with the rest of social networks should have a lower abandonment rate than the networks mentioned above, because in this network apart from sharing content and making friends we can give and make money (something that is fantastic) . So if we have this great plus, because every day that passes we realize that our followers are mostly dead accounts or bots, well I think it reaches the original problem or at least for me, and it is called expectations.

For me expectations is one of the main reasons in the breakdown of human relationships, and steemit is reached with many expectations, particularly in my country (Venezuela) the main expectation is "in steemit I'm going to make money" and I think it's the Main expectation in most new steemians regardless of their nationality and this generates a tremendous disappointment of the platform because we know that the vast majority will not make money.

When we enter many help us and correct us, they tell us to improve the wording, that we only place our own content, that we learn how to use html, that we do not spam trying to earn money and all that is fine, but another problem begins and it seems that the large communities or people to whom they have delegated enough SP took steemit as a specialized repository.

I will explain myself, because I do not want it to be misunderstood, I can perfectly understand projects like @ utopian-io or @steemstembecause in a conventional social network it does not make sense to publish a fairly detailed science article, or do open source tutorials, in steemit you can do them and these projects will judge if it is good and can support you monetarily with a vote, but right there comes the problem, many times articles of this type are not accepted or just did not seem good enough to the curator of the moment, they are totally forgotten or maybe they get some votes that do not reach 0.05 $ and with few or no comments, as these are gone creating communities of poetry, painting, music, etc ... and all are getting more and more demanding to vote "because they do not have enough SP", I want to emphasize that I do not criticize these projects, the majority do a good job,but by centralizing the voting power in the communities the essence of a social network disappears, and steemit happens to become a platform where employers or bosses (projects with centralized SP) exist and the workers or minions seek their pay from those employers.

As you can realize the expectations when entering the platform were devastated, we went from steemit a social network where you can additionally earn money, a steemit is a job where you have to spend hours making a good post so that with a bit of luck or pretty cronyism with the administrators of some community you end up voting, That frustrates the vast majority of steemians and end up leaving the accounts.

I do not know if when steemit was created it was planned to have a good user prototypebut currently a good steemiant is the one who prepares his post in a lot of detail (preferably long), makes quality comments (preferably long) and belong to the different communities (I'm sure that if you have the first two characteristics but not the last, the most probably you do not succeed), in short you have to spend a good amount of time putting together a post, then spend another good amount of time reading other posts that should be long of course, leave a quality comment in the posts you read and Finally you have to go to Discord to actually know the people in some communities and of course the more time you spend in the discord of the communities you will have more chance that the administrators will find your posts more attractive.

Maybe to I'm wrong and steemit if it was created to be a repository specialized in different topics and as they say in my country (I'm peeing outside the pot) but if it was not created for that purpose, that's the way they are giving most of the communities and in this way steemit will never stop having such a high desertion rate.

I would like to hear your opinions on this.

See you later, steemians and remember HOLD !!!
