Some thoughts...
Steemit Inc's focus on SMTs ahead of improving the immediate implementation of Steem blockchain (i.e. Steemit) is misplaced.
Steem enabling heavy delegations and empowering bid/promo bots to have the biggest stake in the platform is a grave mistake which very well contradicts the vision of making humans with stake to decide where the quality is.
With so much wealth at Ned's disposal—and at the disposal of Steemit Inc.—it should not be hard to rectify the mistakes in the code or its implementation.
Removal—even identification—of bad actors in the platform is non-existent.
There are bad actors in the platform who are free to operate at the expense of platform's future and bad experience of other users; like myself.

I understand your concerns but I think SMT's are a fantastic game plan for the bigger picture....But I know what you mean, cleaning up and taking care of home first.
I do think SMTs will be a game changer. For the people who build SMT protocol based platforms as well as their users. NOT for Steemit or other Steem based dapps.
I'm inclined to agree. I always prefer to prioritise the basics, it's better to get them right before trying to get too fancy. I see this as a common failing with many teams involved in development, they can be too interested in the next big feature and don't put enough time and effort into polishing the existing features.
Hopefully all these issues you presented are addressed right after SMT is introduces. Hmh, your thinking is so right, actually the team should take time NOW to condolidate the platform! Let's just hope for the best.
SMTs would be hosted on platforms based on Steem blockchain. I don't think SMTs (unless they are highly programmable) will do any good to the existing problems.
Regardless, Steemit (and current Steem based apps) will see no improvement because SMTs are going to exist on other platforms.
I think as the user number has grown we’ve had many developments that have made the platform less social. I’ve never been a fan of bots but all the pay for upvote services are so counterproductive.
I really don’t know what to say. I share the same sentiments however i am still hopeful that the platform will turn around for the better, cause if it doesn’t, we have EOS based platform coming in soon and suffice to say that @dan’s vision regarding decetralized social media platform looks far more promising than this one..
