SCADA Systems and their benefits to Industries.

Our world is advancing. Scientists have explored diverse way of automating things in order to do a lot of things to make the work of the workers in the various industries very easy for them.


SCADA is a trending technology employed by many engineers and a believe that it is one of the best technologies.SCADA means Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition and It is one of the best ways to solve our problems in all these parts of industries. It has four core functions and they are to:
  • Acquire data from field devices in the industry
  • To communicate data through a network
  • To present data acquired from field devices to the main central Server
  • To effect changes to the field devices based on the data it receives from the network data communication channel.
    The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system has an application or the SCADA master station(software) that monitors and keeps track of the activities being performed by the field devices ie it gathers real-time data from field devices and automatically supervises the field devices. Therefore there would not be any more need for manually methods like closing or opening valves, switch relays or working with other field devices manually.

We always had to put in all our strength to make sure that we get good and quality drinking and also distribute them with ease. With the help of the SCADA system, we would be able to automate water treatment process and distribution. With the help of this automation system as well we can even create a keep track of those who have made payment for water distribution to their homes and cut those who have not made payments yet. Once customers have paid, water can now be successfully distributed to the customers successfully as part of the automation.

In terms of power we get to know that about 2.5% of the power transmitted from our power stations is lost out of the 100% that is transmitted.
The same concept of water process applies to power stations as well. But in this case we would be dealing with electricity and power rather than water. Therefore the SCADA system would be interfaced with the field devices such as the pumps and the others.
