Lately I've been browsing around the web in order to find other platforms that have the same focus on social media content leveraged on blockchain technology. I would love to share my findings and discuss a bit about the main features of this platforms, what are their strengths and their weaknesses. Most informative and well-crafted comments will earn 1 SBI share each, I'll upvote the winner comments, remember the early bird gets the worm.

Me gustaría compartir lo que he encontrado, discutir sus principales características, sus debilidades y fortalezas. I will not to elaborate on technical differences since @scipio has already posted both on Steemit and on Whaleshares a never-ending (yet very interesting) post comparing both platform. Spoiler alert: his conclusion is that both platforms could symbiotically grow and I fully agree with that.
The main difference that I have been able to perceive so far is the different support levels that communities have on both platforms. Whaleshares is all about communities being supported directly by witnesses and other big stakeholders via Whaletokens and other mechanisms (more about Whaletokens here). So far, Whaletokens can only be earned through organic engagement within each community. Those tokens are used to earn a fraction of the minting whale voting power on one post.
Much of this could be useful on Steemit, and I think that the long-waited SMT and the other implementations that Steem development teams seem to be willing to deploy could get Steemians many of these characteristics.
No voy a ahondar en detalles técnicos debido a que @scipio ya ha publicado un interminable (y muy interesante) artículo tanto en Whaleshares como en Steemit. Alerta de spoiler: el concluye que las plataformas pueden crecer de manera simbiótica, yo estoy totalmente de acuerdo con eso.
La principal diferencia es el nivel de apoyo que tienen las comunidades en ambas plataformas. Whaleshares gira alrededor de las comunidades, estas son directamente apoyadas por peces gordos directamente a través de los Whaletokens (más sobre esto aquí. Hasta ahora, los Whaletokens solo pueden ser obtenidos a través de as interacciones orgánicas dentro de cada comunidad. Esos tokens sirven luego para acceder a una fracción del voto de la ballena emisora del token en un post.
Mucho de esto podría ser útil en Steemit, y creo que los muy esperados SMT y las demás nuevas implementaciones que serán realizadas por parte de los desarrolladores les darán estas características a los Steemians.
Weku is pretty much the same platform that we all know from Steemit, but it has two different pages to cover the needs of people that are interested in different aspects on the platform.
One.weku is intended to those who prefer the social media aspect of the platform, deals.weku address the users interested on the economic activities that can be leveraged on the platform, and news.weku addresses the needs of Chinese speakers (it seems that mainly from Taiwan).
The different pages are not just a translation of the others (Chinese-English), for instance, even when both pages fetch data from the same blockchain, they have different posts on the trending sections. In my opinion, this is a cool feature that allows you to promote more accurately your content.
Weku es practicamente la misma plataforma que conocemos en Steemit, pero con tres páginas distintas para cubrir las necesidades de los distintos intereses de los usuarios.
One.weku esta dirigida para quienes se interesan más en el aspecto de red social de la plataforma, deals.weku está orientada hacia quienes están más interesados en los aspectos económicos, news.weku es para los que hablan chino (parece ser que especialmente en Taiwan).
Las diferentes páginas no son solo traducciones una de otra (chino-inglés), por ejemplo, aunque la data es tomada de la misma blockchain, las páginas tienen diferentes posts en las tendencias.En mi opinión esto te permite dirigir a tu audiencia mucho mejor el contenido.
Golos is a platform completely focused on the Russian community, it is the only in which I don't have an account basically because I am unable to read a thing on it. But, from what I got when I translated the FAQ, it's mechanism are exactly the same as in Steemit .
Golos es una plataforma orientada para los rusos, es la única en la que no he creado una cuenta porque básicamente no puedo leer nada de lo que está allí. Después de traducir el FAQ es evidente que su funcionamiento es el mismo que el de Steemit.
I think that this ecosystem where similar platforms have to co-exist will be very beneficial for everyone, the platforms will start to compete among them to provide better services and user experience. They will boost each other and I think that having the opportunity to engage with different audiences is a great opportunity for content creators. Creo que este ecosistema en el que plataformas similares deben coexistir va a beneficiar a todos, las plataformas van a empezar a competir entre ellas para proveer la mejor experiencia a los usuarios. Ellas van a fortalecerse entre sí y creo que tener la oportunidad de interaccionar con distintas audiencias es una gran oportunidad para los creaores de contenido.
