Hurricane Florence Disaster Relief Efforts (ongoing)steemCreated with Sketch.

Hi and good morning to all, I come to you this early AM with an important post to provide an update on the lingering effects of Hurricane Florence, specifically on the good people of North Carolina. Many schools are still closed and people are struggling with lives turned upside down.
Thankfully I belong to a wonderful Church (Christian Life Assembly), and I cannot say enough about the difference they are making.

The congregation is well over 2000 fine people and Wednesday evening I was one of the recipients of an email plea to help deliver 10 pallets of disaster relief goods to Cornerstone Church located in New Bern, NC. So many generous people donated happily but no truck had arrived to central PA to pick up the needed supplies. It had gotten to the point where our church had to rent a 27 foot truck to proactively make the delivery ourselves. No one was readily available to drive it down however.

That is when Brother Mike and I stepped up to respond - I had never met this guy Mike. I'd describe him as a good-natured cross between the skinny member of ZZ Top and a ~svelt~ Santa Claus! Super cool dude. Anyway, this is by no means a plug for our efforts but something I am so proud of doing. I hope it encourages just one person out there to give a little extra of themselves, to go the extra mile to help those in need.

I wasn't provided great detail but scrambled down to Church as fast as I could to help load this 27 foot truck. I expected we just be part of a caravan trucking on down but that was not the case. I actually had to get behind the wheel of this enormous vehicle and navigate DC / Baltimore traffic en route to our destination!

So we left at midnight (Thu. into Fri.) and rambled on down the road - surprisingly smoothly...until. Until we got to the very end of our 450 mile drive. I had set the GPS to a female British voice, for entertainment purposes (nothing more or less!). "In 800 feet you have reached your destination", she proclaimed. Whelp. Not exactly - literally as we 'arrived', a tractor trailer carrying about 10 telephone poles overturned exactly in front of the service road we had to access to get into the church. Ack! So I pulled a ~maneuver~ past the immediate police blockade and around the back of a bank beneath (almost but thankfully not!) the drive thru overhang.

Long story short, we made it. Happily so and I hope our tiresome journey in good faith made God smile. I hope every person who takes the time to read this goes out of their way to do one good thing for someone else today. You don't have to upvote, steem or re-steem... just pay something forward in life that was done unto you.. You know, The Golden Rule. Thank you all so much, you know I love you and everyone in this world.

Good job Lance for stepping up. Have to call you Angel Lanceman from here on. :-)

You are a GOOD man brother Mike! @manorvillemike

A lot of people benefited today.

When any of us are in desperate need, it is nice to know there is someone like yourself that is part of the reason for it.

It is amazing what can be accomplished as long as someone is willing to step up. Thanks for sharing this... maybe someone in their area given the same opportunity will use your example to lend a hand too. :)

Thank you so much @intelliguy !
