Freedom's delegates are promoting steem abuse

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

Recently, @transisto revealed a horde of abuse by people who received delegation from @freedom. You can read about that here. I dug a lot deeper to get more attention to this issue. I have documented some of the major recent abuses by freedom's delegates in the coprehensive post below.

Freedom is currently delegating to the following accounts.

@utopian-io is a service rewarding open source contributions. So, there is no abuse here.

@appreciator is a voting bot. It doesn't vote on comments. It is voting on low quality posts, copypasta and illegal posts, that is, posts that violate laws. This post voted is copied from youtube.

This post copypasta from cnet. This post it upvoted is most likely copyright infringement.

@funny-gifs is a user who got 389,538.264 steem delegation from freedom. He or she is using it to upvote on low quality comments.

He is colaborating with other people who received delegation from freedom. In the following case, @askquestion. He is also providing a voting service with no regard to quality of posts.

Next on the list is @jasimg. He upvoted this post with images ripped from google. The text in that post is also most likely rephrase plagiarism.

5th is @pula78. He is voting on low quality comments.

Next on the line is @askquestion. He is posting almost the same content that is, "updates to cryptocurrencies" and most of his reports look like the same. He is just inputing the new prices in a post template and posting them again and again and getting huge upvotes. Those upvotes are coming from @funny-gifs, @elizabeth302 and himself.

All three of them are colaborating with each other.

Next is @rocky1. He is selling votes by himself. Check his transfer tab for more.

@ak2154 got 200 M vests or 100k delegation. He is also selling votes. He transfers 50 SBD per day to freedom.

https://steemit.com/@aksdwi also got 100k. He bio at the time of writing this post, "Send minimum 0.1 SBD to 5SBD and the link of your post for Upvote".

@akshaykumar12257 got a 100k SP. He is selling votes via @minnowbooster. Before, freedom directly delegated SP to them. But here you have another intermidiatery.

Up Goat

I looked at a few votes and found an image plagiarism post he voted within a few minutes. Here's the image post and here's the source. Not his fault actually. It was voted by @minnowbooster (they have a history of supporting abuse by giving away votes without any regard to quality). He is also begging for delegation from ned. His recent transfers show one transfer to ned with this memo:

Hello sir I heard you are owner of the steemit sir please delegate me 200k steem power so I can help this community and this will help me too.

https://steemit.com/@lays is selling votes just like many of his pals. He is colaborating with @elizabeth302 (whose delegation freedom recently revoked).

His bio:

i will support only quality content send 1 sbd to 10 sbd and our group will upvote you from diffrent ids remember no spam post allows

Translation: "I will vote on any post if you send me 1-10 SBD."

Of the last three delegates, two are @mamqmuqit, @tayyabhussain. Both of them are sending 50 sbd per day. @mamqmuqit is selling votes via minnowboooster.

@tayyabhussain is selling votes.

His bio:

I Providing upvote & finding original content, Send bids 0.10_0.20 or 0.50 SBD With Post URL In Memo (Don't Send Me) any amount when my VP Is less than 90%

At least he is being honest. At least not claiming anything like "I will upvote quality content send be sbd". He is voting on posts that are not giving proper sources and are poorly formatted. That's what I found in the recent votes. If I dig deeper, I think I will find more abusive posts.

The big problem these people are creating is that, their vote selling is allowing them to keep the rewards to themselves. Also, the people to whom they are selling are a few specific people who have mustered the skill of effectively using votes.

This is only benefiting freedom, the delegates and a few vote buyers. They aren't adding much to the community but taking away a big share of the reward pool (upto 5%). This type of actions discourage original content creators.

I see you changed my rate from "non abuse" to "He is voting on low quality comments.".

Thats actually not true. All comments I voted were 3 (yeah, THREE) comments more than 10 days ago, when I first received delegation. Due to curiosity and fresh SP feel. Your screenshot is suggesting I have upvoted all /most of those weird comments. Again, thats not true. Go figure.

All I do now is upvoting polish community authors POSTS. And using a bit of MB to cover up delegation cost. All the posts I upvote are getting nice exposure and wide polish community feedback.

So be so kind and update your report, or go find and show me where I'm upvoting low quality comments.

If anyone is abusing his power its @littleboy. Here are 2 comments from different posts that little boy downvoted:

In this picture @littleboyboy reprimands a user for commenting on a post without actually reading the post. That is totally understandable. There are lots of users who leave garbage (spam) comments.

In this second picture, @littleboy is trying to justify his downvote saying "he didn't nee d to read a post before down voting." Anyone else see the irony in these two posts.

As a person who spends hours on posts trying to bring information and value to the community, and then have other abuse power and undo everything I have worked to accomplish, well that ticks me off. There needs to be checks and balances on this platform. Will be looking more into your delegation and finding out just how much abuse of power @littleboy has been doing

Interesting.

Most of the ones you've found major abuse by are currently having any and all of their upvotes flagged and returned to the reward pool by Bernie Sanders.

Yes, I know. I actually intented to post it yesterday. But there were guests in our house and I was busy with that. I made this comment to Bernie in transisto's post: https://steemit.com/steem/@transisto/whales-witnesses-we-have-to-talk#@littleboy/re-berniesanders-re-transisto-whales-witnesses-we-have-to-talk-20171117t003315926z

Also, transisto's post didn't have this much info. Think of it as an extended version of his post.

@littleboy - it's great that you are digging in deeper into the data to find evidence for abuse. If you can post to #bisteemit and #statistics I think it will help draw more attention and get more people who are looking at data on the blockchain to raise awareness about this further as well! Keep up the good work :)

littleboy doing big work, appreciate all the detective works. I sometimes wonder, how all these can be fixed. Its all sort of power play.

Now this is a much better use of your time, I can get behind this.

Show respect to investors here, that's his delegation.... Respect investors, why you so into every butt with their delegation, this kind of behavior would drive people away...
This platform barely has 30,000 active users, even much less investors, let the platform grow and develop, your tone is very salty and you are very distasteful.... you quick to defend utopian that supports your post and despise others who support others....
Originality isn't Steem greatest asset if you have to attack those who can barely defend themselves with your downvotes, pick on something with equal SP
Give this platform the chance to bud, give it time to grow, your restrictive outlook and constant attack isn't solving anything...
Support some post, encourage some people, cut off the distasteful attacks, engage users who you see plagiarism with a conversation....
When people invest their time and money respect that, there is discord and steem.chat, make use of it, investors and large account holders, won't spend the time researching every upvote, lay off the Steem, join some positive group.... whats up with you?????

Scamming the reward pool isn't behaviour that should be respected. It should be called out and the people doing it should be shamed.

And, as an aside, there were 80,000 active accounts last month.

When people invest their money, respect that, without their investment Steem would be trading much lower, people are putting alot of faith into the platform just by investing... It just isn't acceptable
Now the trend of writing a post bashing seem more appropriate than engaging, you would soon realize that most of these attacks are more jealousy and agenda motivated...
Let get to that active 80,000 active users that you refer about and not a Bot army
If we can get at least 100,000 active users with 10 investors like freedom, that's progress, that's something that marketable.... Flagging users on their first day and attacking investors isn't user and investor friendly....
Freedom decides he had enough and power down and move on, what's next??? pretty sure these evangelist won't put any money on the table to pull the slack

Without a sustainable underpinning no investment will pay off. If we become a platform of bots and reward scammers, no one's investment will be worth anything.

Have Faith in encouraging, starting a conversation, engage the user... engage the investor... Let people leave this platform a better place/ person, there is so much positive groups and engagements here... so much initiative.... Originality isn't Steemit strengths

@littleboy first Freedom delegate His power to big upvote bots like randowhale and minnowbooster They were paying very less to him Then freedom decide to sell his power direct to seekers at least he is a bussinessman and he has huge money Selling and delegating Sp wont breake any term and law and buying and selling of upvote wont turn any law of steemit i also bought upvotes from elizabeth recently and paid her for this buying and selling if prohibit Then Steem team should first stop all selling bots why not they stop them

steemit is dead

I've been fascinated with the @freedom account for quite some time. I love this type of research, and I love how the data is all there in the blockchain for anyone to see, you just have to dig. @dart is also a fascinating (and frustrating) account to dig into.

Congratulations @littleboy, this post is the seventh most rewarded post (based on pending payouts) in the last 12 hours written by a Superuser account holder (accounts that hold between 1 and 10 Mega Vests). The total number of posts by Superuser account holders during this period was 717 and the total pending payments to posts in this category was $3282.40.
