BELIEVE IN STEEMIT!
I keep reading articles about how things suck on steemit right now, I see what they mean when it comes to rewards but that is it. I feel like the people who are here now really want to be here, they aren't just here for the rewards.. Many of us started before the december boom and stuck around since because we see the true value here, the community and the underlying steem technology that will change cryptos as we know it.
I agree the rewards are discouraging right now but they aren't the soul reason I am here and if that is why you are here then you won't last long with cryptos continuely taking such a beating this year. However, with so many people leaving the steemit platform it has left the true steemians standing and room to grow, the ones who love and believe in this platform, the true innovators.
Since so many people have left I have made many more friends with people who have been around for a while and plan to stick around regardless of the price. They honestly value good content and leave real comments and care about the community. Whales and dolphins are also in search of new material and new people to follow because their feeds are as empty as everyone elses. I use to spend hours daily going through my feed of just friends but now sometimes I can make it through my entire feed in a hour leaving me time searching for new people to follow and communicate with.
I have slowly been going thru my friends list and deleting the people who have jumped ship and adding people who add value to the website. Even though my upvote isn't worth shit right now when things do pick up on steemit my upvote will sky rocket and my autovoter and curation trails will make much more of a difference than they currently do.
Believe it or not this is literally the best time to be on steemit! You are much more likely to win contest, meet new people and make real relationships. You are much more likely to catch the attention of veteran steemians and your post promotions on discords are much more likely to be noticed. You can also buy steem for cheap and power it up at prices that will never be seen again. The best part is you get to meet people on the platform who want to be here for real reasons, not just monetary reasons.
Hard fork 20 (HF20) is coming soon, Sept 25, 2018, and that will increase users at rates never seen on steemit before, everyone who is here prior to that will benefit. SMT protocol should also be coming in the next 6 months or so which will cause steem to become less available hence more valuable and cause the price to sky rocket like never seen before because of supply and demand. There are currently over 400 apps that ride on the the steem blockchain and more developers are interested in steem everyday because of the nearly community of nearly 60,000 users that are already here and the technology that is built correctly from the foundation up to support the dapps that will ride on it, unlike etherium and other cryptos that constantly have issues scaling.
Soon it will be hard to earn one steem, right now it is easy and everyone here will profit immensely if they just believe in steemit and continue to power up instead of spending their precious steem.
We are considered innovators and we will be rewarded for our hard work and belief in steemit/steem in the end. I know it seems hard right now but this would be the worst time to give up and cash in! BELIEVE IN STEEM and you will be rewarded.

I also belive in STEEM, and I don't give a damn about the current problem with "low rewards" and such, I am here for the long haul, and I know* the value of STEEM will rise. This might even be a really good time to make an investment and buy some more STEEM.
*I am not a psychic, but now with "normal dictatorship socialmedia" collapsing in controversy after controversy, where are they/the users going to go? All those people, who finally had enough after years of being screwed over and spied on?!

I am glad to hear you are "here for the long haul" and see the value in steemit. I agree, people who are sick of FB and instagram will eventually find their way here due to the constant overstep and marketing techniques that are being outed on a daily basis.. Plus, the money thing, lol, once more people learn about and believe in cryptos its game over! steem to the moon ;)
Yeah, you are right @moderndayhippie , I just hope the whales and dolphins here, starts having "xxx" with more minnows instead of the good old "circle jerk" thing...(did I just write that OMG it was a metaphor)...
Because there are now many other options then just Steemit, and if new people/"normal users" come here and find it slightly hopeless, they are going to go to one of the other "crypto-reward-social-media sites", and "das ich nicht gott"!
But me bitching about this is not going to change anything, I am guessing the whales want their investments to grow, they are usually quite smart, so the hopefully "The penny will drop" and things will become better, much better soon...
I also read that optimistic people live longer, so I am going to be super optimistic!!! Maybe I will invest my last pennies in some more STEEM, it is so low right now, I think things can only turn up, towards that famous moon...

If I have said it once I have said it once, the true value in steemit is the people not the steem or sbd. So now I have said twice if not more.
I hear you and what you say makes perfect sense but not a lot of cents at the moment, and let's face it, most people need instant gratification.
I'll be here at $0.03 or $300. the price makes no difference now that I know the value and where that value is derived from.

This post was a major truth pill. This time last year all the way up until the end of the year Steemit was the Crypto platform everyone was using. While it’s true that the amount of attention as dropped I still think there is some really good content here and some excellent things to discover that you won’t find elsewhere. Unfortunately for me I lost the password of my original steemit account (duh!) but it still great to be here even if my account’s upvote power is shit!
That sucks u lost ur password to ur old account but I think there is a way to recover ur account on steemit.. im not quite sure how it is done but i have read stories of people doing it in the past so if ur old account was worth a lot it may be worth trying to figure out..

I was just about to write a post about this, but you've covered this well. Writing posts and investing in the platform is like a farmer planting seeds and buying equipment for the bounty to come.

I've definitely never seen Steem this low before @moderndayhippie. Not by a long way.
I'm wishing now I'd bought in smaller chunks as it appears to still be going down and I started buying at $1.17.
The last couple of times I waited for it to drop below $1 but it didn't and I missed the dips. This time I didn't want to miss it.
This buying is not for the faint hearted! 😂
NO, unfortunately it is not. ;) Don't worry though, I have done the same with many cryptos but it doesn't really matter if you plan on hodling anyhow, you just may have to hodl a bit longer LoL, but it will go back up way higher! Besides, with steemit you are always making a return anyhow so its a great place to be, even at $1.17! ;)
