An Idea For A Steem app

This was an idea I had today for a Steem app, its quite a basic and not filled out at all, but it is a possible solution to the current problems of hardforks, currently the only way a hardfork will occur is by Steemit inc proposing it, and the witnesses accepting it. Why not as a decentralized platform have proposals put forward by the community and at the moment that isn't particularly realistic. It isn't realistic because there is no platform to share these ideas, if you base it on the trending page then that is completely unrealistic of the community and getting all the witnesses to see proposed changes without the central figure of Steemit helping is also unlikely.

What I suggest is a app to make this process more decentralized and involve the community more. This system has to rank the suggestions not by value as it will just be like the trending page. It could involve a point system and each person (depending on ranking and SP) has a certain level of points that when their vote is cast it allocates their points. It can be used similarly to a vote bar and the points they give will be what percent they allocate, with the monetary vote also being cast in unison. The system will show the points each post receives and if clicked on the monetary rewards. It could also calculate the percentage of the points being allocated to the proposal in comparison to the communities total points.

This system would have to integrate the witnesses as well as they are the people who can actually hardfork the system. They would also be brought into a point system and if they reach the level of points required to hardfork, then it would be expected the hardfork would take place.

Now this is just the entertainment of an idea but if you have anything to add please comment below!

Why would an app need a hard fork? Having seen what happens when we have a hard fork, I'd like as few as possible. Wont SMT's be a solution? If Steemit Inc. doesn't provide that, I'm sure there will be alternatives. Steemit Inc. doesn't control Steem, as the witnesses can change that if they want to. There's so many dapps on Steem already, I don't think there's a big problem making them.

No it's an app that discusses problems and puts forward solutions that could fix problems. Hardforks doesn't mean chaos it was just the manner in how the last one was switched.

Isn't that what they use GitHub for? https://github.com/steemit/steem. There's discord as well.

Yeah but it's not necessarily easy for people to understand the changes. Why not a voting system to see what is popular.
