Stage 1: Skepticism
Stage 2: Confusion
Stage 3: Acceptance
Stage 4: Euphoria and bliss
Stage 5: Reality sinks in
Stage 6: Game changer
Stage 1: Skepticism
When you first heard about Steemit what was your initial reaction? Was it too good to be true? Most people who hear of this place raise an eyebrow at first glance. Whether they've never heard of Crypto or been trading since 2010. We all wonder at first where the money comes from. Those of us with some background in crypto quickly learn how things operate. For everyone else the learning curve is a little steep. Not steep enough to keep them from joining. Even after joining some don't believe until they feel the cold hard cash in their hands. In my case I believed 100 percent because I had already been involved with crypto since 2013. It was my friends and family that I had to convince and it wasn't easy at all. Eventually i was able to convince them that this place was real and not another scam.
Stage 2: Confusion
This really applies to the rookies or the very new to crypto. Steemit isn't just another social media account. There are many important aspects of each account. Most of which aren't needed in traditional websites. New users have to learn to manage keys for their account and learn what each is for. What is Steem Power? What is SBD? What happens if I power up a post? All these things and questions can easily overwhelm users in the beginning. If you are serious about this place it should take no more than 48 hours to get a general understanding of this place. There are tons of informative posts on just about every topic that is Steemit. This stage shouldn't last too long. It's usually the lazy users or those looking for a quick buck who end up stuck for months. Not having a clue about what's going on.
Stage 3: Acceptance
Once you have a couple posts under your belt things get easier. You start accepting this new online social life. Tons of ideas flood your brain for post all day. You speak to everyone you know about it until you drive them insane. The posts are flowing and you are starting to earn some Steem. Your rep is improving and your followers list is growing. Now it's been a couple months and you are sure this place isn't a scam. Steem has snuck in and become your #1 crypto!!!!!
Stage 4: Euphoria and Bliss
Than all of a sudden you get your first big upvote. The room starts spinning and you are refreshing the page like a madman. There is nothing like getting that unexpected upvote. Better yet is when the price skyrockets and your account value goes up. Most of us here have seen that happen once or twice. It's not impossible to get a big upvote but it does take some work. There are huge accounts that still upvote content and your post might be the next one. Just put in a little effort remain consistent and it will pay off in the end.
Stage 5: Reality sinks in
The heavy upvotes don't come consistently unless you are a rockstar or know somebody on here. This can be hard for some to grasp but it is the reality we live in. At this point you should have a good understanding of this place. Giving you an advantage over newer users. You have been battle tested and probably recieved a downvote or two. Everyone's Steem experience is different. Some have it good and some struggle. Instead of complaining we need to just hit the upvote button more. No matter what you vote is worth it can make a difference. There are many different ways to earn here it just takes some understanding. Don't be afraid to switch things up if you are hitting a slump. There are tons of communities to join here. So get in where you fit in!!!!
Stage 6: Game Changer
Now is where the fun begins. You have officially made it to the big leagues. This is where you tighten up all the bolts and kick things into high gear. With full comprehension and experience with the Steem blockchain you are ready to grow as big as you can. If you made it this far than you should have a very nice chunk of Steem Power and followers. Unless you are a baller and skipped all these stages. It doesn't matter of you start with $0 or $100,000. We all have an opportunity to earn from the rewards pool.
I started my journey here one year ago with only $40 and I have never looked back. I plan on being here for as long as this place exists. Up until now there isn't another place like this anywhere. I am well aware of other projects hailed to take over. I'm still not sweating. Competition is a good healthy thing. Who else is gonna light a fire under @ned's ass? I'm pretty confident the Steemit Inc. Team is gonna pull through and deliver on everything they promised.
No matter what Stage you are in keep your head in the game. IT AIN'T OVA YET!!!

I definately in Stage 6. It's not about the short term gains, quick buck, or psuedo fame. It's about the Technology of the Blockchain, Steem, and how I truly believe it will change the world.
We already have the most transactions and if you including Bitshares, which is like the parent of Steem, our technology will change the world. It's only a matter of time before the earth shattering Kaboom. It's not about today or tomorrow. It's about where the blockchain starts in 2021 or 20125, 5 or even 10 years from now. It took Facebook about 7-10 years to catch on. We've already made such advancements in just a couple a years AND Steemit isn't even "released to the public" yet since it's still beta and no instant sign up. I'm looking forward to the extraordinary game changing technology. Ideally this becomes many of our retirement accounts and ways to "true" freedom.
Do you think another social media platform could come out backed with their own crypto? They could learn from the mistakes of steemit and improve upon them.
I think Facebook will do something within the next 5 years which is a double edged sword for us. The platform already has ways of send money back and forth it's only a matter of time before the try to "change the landscape".
Also Pornhub while not a typical social platform has adopted Verge and is integrated privacy coins, where as Tumblr recently revealed their TumblrCoin. I see these as the underdogs and dominators. Pornhub already is one of the biggest websites and porn is the reason we he BluRay as a major encoding disk.
Porn has always driven our society and technically is the backing behind the Internet itself. Pornhub, Facebook, and Tumblr I see to big things.

And Steemit could learn from those fixes and use them as well. We are all in it together.
Interesting post but I’m not cool like you. No one gives a shit about me or my story. I started powering down my couple dollars. Plan on giving the money to the food bank.

I bounce around stages from a day to day basis lol.
Stage 5 here. Been here for a few days but it's still a long road to go for the big league.
it seems like a cycle more so than stages, I'm in stage 3 after completing one steemit cycle
In case it was my initial stage, I even joined in August 2017 and it wasn't until December, when I regained my confidence.
Totally, there is a sea of other questions, such as what are those numbers between parentheses next to your username for? It's a lot of things and the worst part is that I never knew that right here (in the publications) I had the solution.
This stage is pretty good when you feel like you want to eat the world and that's when you really start to connect with others.
I think my stage is this, I still haven't received a vote of more than $23 (?) I'm still not desperate, I'm enjoying my trip!
I would say I'm at stage four (thanks @curie !) with a peripheral awareness of stage five.
I'm in the meh, "I hope someone comes out with something better than this" stage.
I’m in between 5 and 6 but I love this place... it literally has unlimited potential
