Why Keep Steeming? Curation - Thanks - 279

Response to comment and post

Right now I do see Steemit as a hobby which has a potential for a payoff although the payoff could very well never happen. I don't think it's a good idea to spend very much time on Steemit and I probably spend too much but I still do find it overall somewhat enjoyable.

For most users you might want to consider a curation or delegation strategy. If you use Steemvoter https://steemvoter.com/ and vote on posts/comments at like 14 or 15 minutes you can earn some curation. You may not make out like a bandit like cheneats does but you could still earn some. You could also do delegations. I think with smartsteem you can also sell your vote and be a voting bot.

Thanks for those who provided suggestions on how to survive if I get attacked. I am surprised at how many good Steemians get attacked.

I didn’t know smartstreem had that functionality.
I use their Bid Bot for post visibility. But so far that’s not profitable. Even my best posts languish, but I guess I am still relatively new here, only here for six months. I am thinking of changing my focus from content to delegation and becoming a bid bot.

It seems like very few people understand very many features of the Steemit platform.
Have you used smartmarket?

I spend too much time on here as well. I am starting to think I had the best strategy on day one ..... use this site for collecting bounty task on new crypto start-ups and I intend on doing that again on a second account.

There is tons of potential for Steem to grow. For me the answers to success for Steemit is clear as day. .. .. Simplicity and aggressive marketing. I know some don't view this place as a social media site but that is what it is and currently it's going in the direction of a pay to play site which won't work as there are too many free options that people can use instead.

Yeah you do do a lot of time consuming contests. I dunno how you do it. I did enjoy the Steem Bounty program until I got attacked.

I don't think things look great for Steem right now but I think there is potential for things to eventually turn around.

To be honest most don't take much time. The majority of visitors to any topic takes place in the first 24 hours. Most the work of any contest is finished after that. Then on to the next one.

My Followers Appreciation Promotion use to take up allot of time when I was trying to spread the word of the promotion and pick up followers via commenting on every post that was entered into it + commenting on comments made on the contest post itself but I stopped commenting in that promo a couple months back so it cut the work down allot.

I understand what your saying. It’s fun and addicting like Facebook, but so far the proof of brain is still a goal or dream and pay for play the reality.

It's a lot more fun when your vote has some value. I'm still not thrilled that I cast hundreds of votes that didn't count. :(

🤔

? lol

I agree with you entirely, Steemit is a hobby and should be viewed as such. Blogging, YouTubing, etc. All hobbies, with a slight chance of a payout. I do think Steemit has a good chance of becoming profitable, and it can be addicting. I have to ask myself why I want to Steemit and blog. Why do I want to put forth the effort when I work 60 hour weeks? Is it worth it? What do I want out of it? Recognition? Money? Sharing Information? Those are questions only I can answer. I know one thing I have lacked about in my blog is direction and purpose. I think if I were to find a purpose to create value to others while enjoying the process, I would steemit a whole lot more.

🤔
I ask myself these same questions.
I understand what your saying. I feel that way as well. It’s fun and addicting like Facebook but with a small chance of some now distant payoff.

I've been thru 2 steemit pumps, when the pumps do come, people get ecstatic and euphoric, and the platform is filled with excitement. It is pretty cool. But the lulls last much longer, unfortunately. I think the release of dApps and SMT could be a game changer, but this is crypto, so only time will tell.

Do you know about @dustsweeper?
If the dApps and SMT don't work I guess Steemit may be DOA long term.
I guess there may be some scalability problems with Steem right now and since the day it was created.

Hmm interesting. I haven't heard anything about scalability issues, but sounds to be the norm of these platforms. If SMT fails out of the gate it will be a bumpy ride to the bottom. I haven't even considered that as an option but sure it could most definitely fail! Do you have a link to the info on the scalability problem?

And I've heard you mention dustsweeper before but I haven't signed up for it yet. I did sign up for steemvoter.

Do you know how to do a transfer? You could send it .ike .1 SBD to start out with.
Did you set it up for autovoting?
I would consider using Steemvoter but I think they do steal like 1 vote out of 10 and plus I am a big fan of manual curation.

I did, I joined a guild and will see how the results are when the week is up. I think I will throw some steem at dustsweeper, all I have to do is send it to them?

Yeah just send it like 1 Steem or 1 SBD or you could even do .1 if you are nervous about trying it.
You could try frontrunning me if you want.

Don't promote going for curations by voting on all 15 min old posts! That's a negative for the platform. I just spend time on Steemit to get the experience of a social media running on a blockchain.

You don't want to vote on all 15 minute old posts but you can set your autovoter to do that for certain people you follow. About half of my blog upvotes are from autovoters.
This site is majority automated I think.
