A User-Centered Alternative to Steemit

in #steemit5 years ago

Who is interested in helping developing it?

A friend of themarkymark who made invisible my post about forking Steemit told me that forking is not possible, so why not start completely anew from scratch?

  • What do users want this platform to do?
  • How want users this platform to work?
  • How do users want to see this platform financed?
  • How do users want to see decisions and changes made?
  • How do users see quality content on such a platform incentivized?
  • Could such a platform be bootstrapped with input from voluntary developers?
  • Would it not make sense to let this platform and its value grow by "creativity" and "content creation" mining through a well balanced rewarding system whereby platform 'coins' are mined by creating content by the users?
  • Would it not make sense to build and expand such a system in a well tested and planned and evaluated manner that tries to be as inclusive to as many users as possible from a technical point of view?

Steemit could be seen as a Microsoft model based on predatory capitalism that only lifts the 1% up (hope RT doesn't mind using this expression).
Why not create a Linux model alternative for Steemit, run by and for the people instead of run by a little circle of friends tapping each other on the back?

Dan Larimer and Ned Scott have left this ship and the ones running the show now act like a troop of wild baboons escaped from the Zoo that are running and jumping around like a bunch of crazy lunatics who have no clue.

Time to start something new?

We should use an existing blockchain platform. My suggestion would be Cardano as it can scale and the development is the best quality I have seen in the crypto space.

I think it's quite possible to create something better. It will be challenging and will require a diverse team of people with a range of skills

I am not a techie, but is Cardano really the wisest bet to take? I see a lot of entanglement and toxic interaction between the top guys of Ethereum, Steem and Cardano. Can this not have a negative effect on a project built on top of the Cardano Blockchain?

Vitalik Buterin, Charles Hoskinson and Dan Larimer. These are 3 of the brightest minds in the cryptocurrency space and all 3 have founded crypto projects. Charles Hoskinson used to work alongside Dan Larimer at Bitshares, but the two parted ways due to “personal differences”. Well we found out that is not the case, and there was bad blood between Larirmer and Hoskinson. Charles shortly after went on to co-found Ethereum, but only was their for short stint, of 6 months before being pushed out. What were the reasons? This is the untold story of the feud between these three prominent cryptocurrency figures, and you won’t believe what happened and what was said. Lies and deceit, and Charles Hoskinson has vendettas. Tune in to learn about the whole story!

Welcome to part 2 in the crypto fight that went down between Charles Hoskinson, Vitalik Buterin, and Dan Larimer. Charles Hoskinson had a vendetta against both Dan and Vitalik for being booted out of Bitshares and Ethereum. Charles then went on to form IOHK, and run the Cardano ICO. Just when Cardano was planned on lauching, something happens…the Ethereum Classic hardfork. Charles forgot about Cardano, and decided to put efforts towards Ethereum Classic and its development to try and overthrow Ethereum and Vitalik. Did this work out? What happened with Cardano? Tune in to find out more!

Chico likes drama. Check out the Cardano website and work your way through what they are doing.

I know for many a blockchain is a blockchain, but when people are going to have their money secured on it, it needs thorough scrutiny and development. This is where Cardano excels, it's methods have been reviewed and accepted at some of the top cryptography conferences. This means people with decades of cryptography experience (not just crypto currency), have reviewed the assertions made by Cardano.

Looking at the underlying technology is far more important than the personality clashes, unfortunately, that requires a level of knowledge and effort that Chico either doesn't have or knows will not be as good for clicks.

Agreed. I have been drawn to Cardano since early on in my exposure to crypto. It is unlike any project in how it is ran. Now that IOHK has the Ethiopian contract, it will make them one of the most trusted projects with masses since it will be legitimized by governments (Atala will most likely be implemented throughout most of Africa once it is up and running in Ethiopia). I could go on, but the caliber of minds working on Cardano along with the transparency and pace to ensure things are done right makes me believe it will be the first to achieve mass adoption.

Thanks also to you for chiming in and the extra argumentation pro Cardano, will certainly dive into it deeper now

@kabir88 thanks for the detailed arguments pro Cardano, it will save a lot of time if this project ever is going to take off
