Recently, at the “Business environment at the local level” conference, held in Belgrade, the Head of the Regional Development Agency Eastern Serbia presented Balcanica Superior – a unique good practice in one of the key regions of Southeastern Europe intended to increase the visibility of Eastern Serbia and support its development. It is necessary to point out that this is the first time a whole region is branded to serve wider community needs.

Marking out a particular level of products and services quality The Eastern Serbia regional brand Balkanica Superior is a firm guarantee for the buyers passing an important message of the origin of the produce. A good example of acting on the field is designating particular touristic and hospitality services with Balcanica Superior regional brand, thus helping the customers’ contribution to the economic growth and the local economy in the region. Marking a service or a product as a regional brand is passing a message to the buyers that they receive a precise quality, produced in that particular region.

The name


„Balcanica Superior“ is a name selected among 229 suggested names, and the logo is produced by the Slovenian design studio „Felician Sedmak Ltd“, elaborated during an award contest attended by 134 designers.

The Regional Development Agency Eastern Serbia – RARIS, the initiator of the idea’s complete implementation is the official all rights owner „Balcanica Superior“ (guarantee mark) eastern Serbia regional brand. "Balcanica Superior" is registered and protected by Intellectual Property Office as a trademark warranty.

The Regional brand guarantees an indisputable level of quality branded products and services, and also recognize their Eastern Serbia origin. In order to have all potential interested parties – individuals and companies – covered, RARIS has created a Regional platform to offer counseling and consulting services in the run of the branding process. Based on previous experience in the region as per the regional branding time internship for the brand affirming, future positive effects are to be naturally expected in the eastern Serbia region.
