Steemit: Rewarding The Good And Following Through On Promises, Lifting Up Communities With Cryptocurrency

A week ago I wrote an article where I demonstrated how Steem (via Steemit) has delivered for impoverished communities where Bitcoin has only promised.

In that post I showed how the user @steemgh was doing exactly what people had promised that cryptocurrency was capable of doing, but had never been possible until Steemit.

@steemgh, Ambassador of Steemit to Ghana

In his posts, we can see @steemgh blogging about his daily life.

We get glimpses to his local community in Ghana, but not only that: @steemgh is an ambassador of Steemit to everyone he sees.

Always flying the Steemit flag (by way of a t-shirt), @steemgh promotes Steemit on the streets. He shares the message that Steemit has the possibility of lifting people out of poverty and into abundance by way of building networks and posting quality content.

He doesn't earn much objectively, but his account is growing, and as he mentioned in this post:

Steemit pays me 2times my monthly salary every week and have helped not only me but those around me. I pay even those who support me in my outreach and able to send my mother money weekly. I depend completely on this amazing platform. My life never same.

I did the math on my post:

I think that is a remarkable achievement!

And because of that, I wanted to promote @steemg for the work he is doing and what he is achieving by fulfilling the promise of Bitcoin through Steemit.

The reward

I said in my post a week ago that I was going to give @steemg the SBD I received from the post.

So here I'm going to show that I've done that.

The reward for that post was 27.444 SBD:

According to Coin Market Cap calculator, that's the equivalent of $74.23.

Here is the transfer form:

Here's the record of transfer from my wallet:

Why am I doing this?

I'm doing this because I believe in this community and the promise of cryptocurrency.

I believe that cryptocurrencies give us a new opportunity to create an economy the likes of which has never before existed.

We have a chance to build an economy based on the true source of value; an economy which is moral, not born of blood, war, secrecy and deceit, but of ambition, cooperation, intelligence, and transparency.

This is our opportunity to expose to the world the liberation that exists in user-generated tokens and the attention economy.

We have an opportunity to demonstrate that cooperation and good will CAN triumph over greed and selfishness.

Steemit is our opportunity to validate the anarchist principles of self-government, charity, and the non-aggression principal.

I personally think it can happen, and this is my way of putting skin in the game and my money where my mouth is.

What do you think?

Do you believe in Steemit?

How are you doing with putting skin in the game?

Are you out there showing people how Steemit can improve the world and help people of all communities and walks of life?

In part, this post is in line with @aggroed posting about being a cheerleader for Steemit:

Are you doing your part?

Let me know in the comments.

I am even speechless and amazed @shayne you kept a promise which I was not even aware of. Honestly I am honoured for this life transforming reward. Ever since I joined steemit I have seen a massive transformation in my life and I treasure promotion of this platform. For about two days now been sick and it has affected my promotional activities. But seeing this post and the earlier one you made it has changed everything thing. I a young philanthropist who believe and vision how cryptocurrency and social media like steemit can eliminate poverty in our societies. My foundation called Ghana Steam Foundation(@ghsf) is built strongly on poverty alleviation through the steem blockchain. I also concentrate on youth empowerment and this reward will go a long way to help alleviate poverty. I am currently in town promoting steemit and also helping the poor in the street. I will also visit a mother I empowered using money I earned from steemit that kept her and children off the street. Steemit and the steam blockchain in general have not transformed only my life but given me opportunity to help the weak in society.

Super inspiring! Going to show what is possible here. Already, in less developed areas of the world, the earnings here are (already) life-changing (as you have explained) and there is the possibility for a similar impact in the western world once more of the mainstream start to "get it" and get onboard. The power is in the networks.

You have given me food for thought. Thanks for sharing :)

That is a meaningful gesture. I have no idea who @steemgh is but considering what he is doing for promoting steemit - this dude probably deserves it.
This is an example for people who are sticking to working hard here and staying away from bullcrap. Good thing about steemit is that everybody can see what you are doing and sooner or later you will be rewarded.

in your post i believe that you erroneously refer twice to steemg when you meant steemgh

I absolutely love Steemit! Even here in America, Steem offers many people an opportunity to increase our income. I'm someone who has lived under the poverty line nearly my entire life, and Steem has offered me a chance to work from home doing something that suits my creative desires making more than I could working 40 hours a week at minimum wage.

I now get to stay at home with my sons and for the first time in a long time, I actually enjoy life. I'm 100% dedicated to Steem, so much so, that I got it tattooed into my hands...

I am now working day and night in an attempt to open a makerspace in my hometown that will allow me to spread the gospel of Steem, and bring a wave of new creatives to the blockchain!

Everyone has a voice and an audience. The Steem Blockchain doesn't aim to improve the lives of the already privileged 30 percenter's of the world. A $200 monthly potential reward dont account for much to an individual making $30,000 a year.

But it will ROCK the world of those that barely have $10,000 to their name.

As you said.. Bitcoin says they aim to redistribute wealth, Steem actually does it.
