My SteemVoter Woe’s, is there an alternative?

in #steemit6 years ago (edited)

Some of you know that I have created another account named ‘chops.support’ which I plan to use as a purely passive account which simply votes for Steemians who I feel are doing good for the platform or need help to be recognized or grow.

However I won’t replicate what has been said before, as the object of this article is to find an alternative auto-voter to SteemVoter.

I have used SteemVoter since I joined Steemit with my main account and it works fine if the SP is yours, but it doesn’t recognize delegated SP and only gives you free votes based on the size of the native SP value.

I want the ‘chops.support’ account to vote on 25 people, which means it must have a SP of > 500 based on the SteemVoter rules.

The chops account has a SP of 517SP but only 142SP is native to it, the rest has been delegated by myself and a portion very kindly by @steevc. This I would have thought would give me the 25 votes I would like to assign, but it’s not to be.

I can see why they do this. What if the delegation was withdrawn? Which votes would be removed? As a programmer myself I can see that it would cause them to have to write extra code and they would have to implement some kind of random vote removal.

I don’t particularly want to dilute my account any more to make up the difference, so if you know of any other service which will accommodate my means, please let me know. Until then I can only add 10 accounts to the chops account.

I could subscribe to the SteemVoter service which is 3SBD a month, and I may have to do this if I can’t find a ‘free’ solution.

@lloyddavis runs something similar with his @steemcampuk account, which I’m quite sure votes on more than 10 accounts. Maybe he has an answer for me, or a suggestion? I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

If you found this article so invigorating that you are now a positively googly-eyed, drooling lunatic with dripping saliva or even if you liked it just a bit, then please upvote, comment, resteem, engage me or all of these things.

I'm not sure if there's a "good" alternative. I eventually decided to just run my own bots for things like that (I run a loyalty-bot-thing for the #GooglyEyes show, @googlybot, and a few cuddle-bots). It's probably not the easiest solution but it does give you full freedom and makes sure nobody else can do weird things with your posting authority ;)

If that's something you want to look into, I'd be glad to help out and tell you more.

Thanks for responding @fraenk, I don't have anything else to go on yet so I'm open to any advice I can get. @googlybot is you then? ;)

Oh, lol, yeah... the whole googly thing: @googlyeyes, @googlyprize and @googlybot is run by yours truly.

That's also why i always why I notice your posts so often, you're mentioning my favorite word in all your footers ;)

My bots are all written using the steem-python library, it's not rockets science at all and I am able to run them 24/7 from a raspberry pi tucked away in my shelf. It's a $20 one-time investment in the pi and a however much time you want to spend teaching the bot tricks... but generic auto-follow bot scripts are available aplenty afaik.

That's cool @fraenk, I think @toofasteddie has answered my question, but the @googlyeyes thing is funny and my maniac picture with the words is purely coincidental!

Try “autosteem”. Much better service and cheaper.
You will see.
Steem on!

Thanks @toofasteddie, I will have a look!

It does appear to be free, is this what I have been searching for?

EDIT: @arcange seems to think this is a scam, do you personally use autosteem and is this the correct link?

Sorry man, I've just get confused!!!
the site is https://steemauto.com/
FOR FREE!!! ;-)

Ah that's a different site.. but you have inadvertently pointed me to something else.

https://steemit.com/autosteem/@unipsycho/autosteem-1-5-use-it-free-it-s-no-longer-voting-my-content

This does seem to be legitimate actually, I think the scam detector has got it wrong.

use steemauto instead.. it works really much better!!!

After switching to steemauto, it looked all great and fine except for one thing.. it doesn't vote for me. I will have to find something else now :( Am I missing something?

Nop...selfvote is not allowed...but, is that a problem?

I don't think I got the point across, not me personally but any of the votees in the list.

Steem auto looks good, hope it works for this situation.

That is a good idea to help the steemians and upvote them if they deserve,, only few people are found to help others and you are the one of them...
I am glad to see you doing such a great job..

man...there is still so much for me to learn here...lol

I feel so lost reading posts about this stuff sometimes.

There is, its overwhelming for new people but quickly sinks in after a few months :)

I use steemauto.com, you might want to check that out instead. It seems to work pretty well for me. I move d from Steemvoter to that and I haven't been sorry.

steemauto.com or autosteem? They all sound the same. I have tried the former, it looks great and is easy to configure but fails to vote. I have ditched it and gone back to steemvoter for the moment.

The above, does not work. It doesn't vote.

Steemauto. I have never heard of the other one. Hit me up in Discord and we can take a look if you are interested. Steemauto has benefits over steemvoter. I can explain what I have found if you need me to.

I use Steemauto and it works like a charm... Do you have the percentage correct? I mean you can set a threshold from which the autovote won't work when it's below a certain (configurable) percentage

I was using the wrong part of it! Fanbase is the one I need, I was using 'upvote comments'.

I have got it all configured now, just waiting for someone to post which will confirm it is working.

A ok, great :) It's a handy tool !
