Suggestion for Steemit ; New Strategy. Value of Reading
In this posting, I’d like to tell you my suggestion for further advance of Steemit.
It seems that the growth of the accounts become slow and the value of Steem keeps declining.
In this point, I think it is necessary to evaluate the policy of Steemit for the next development.
There are many things to consider, but here I’d like to suggest the Strategy of Steemit marketing.
We could say Steemit’s representative copy “Reward for writing”.
On going strategy to attract many people to Steemi is to highlight that if you write then you can make money. We all thought the reward for writing was excellent, but as we all know that policy does not attract people anymore.
On the contrary, the reward system seemed to make the constant complaints against the reward system.
In my opinion, Steemit needs to change its strategy to “Reward for Reading” from “Reward for writing”
As we all know, reading is much more important than writing.
The reading creates the real value, if people don’t read, the writing has no value.
Only the readers can increase the accounts in Steeemit.
The more accounts, the more valuable in the value evaluation of SNS.
First of all we need to admit that most of us can not make excellent contents continuously.
It means that the strategy focusing on the writers must be changed.
We need to focus on the Reader.
So our copy must be “Reward for Reading”
If we focus on the Readers, the excellent contents will follow to satisfy the needs of the Readers.
So it is inevitable the ratio for Curation Reward need to be changed higher to the extent that we can say “Read and Take the money”
I know there were similar suggestions before, but this is the time to think more seriously.
Look ‘Utube’. There are amounts of content. But the most important element in Utube system is not the creators but the consumers.
Who is consumer in Steemit ?
In my guess, the readers are real consumers in Steemit.
We all know, we need to think different for the success.
And I think it’s the time to think different and change our Strategy.

Hmmm, at the beginning of the post , I was kinda not getting the message but towards getting to the middle of the post I see your points clearly and I quickly agreed with it till the end.
So many amazing writeup that goes unnoticed simply because no one will visit them. The platform had lost some potential minnows to frustration of going unnoticed.
In economics , production isn’t complete without the channel of production and believe me the most important stage in channel of distribution isn’t even the production of the goods but the last stage which is the consumer

In my opinion both are important, writing and reading.
The problem is that too many poeple just don't read!
Yes, they are using steemovter to upvote their friends automatically, but who is really reading carefully what other people are writing? Who is seeking good articles and evaluating them manually? I know that's hard work, but new users only feel appreciated by the community if their post are read and commented by real humans and not bots only! New (and also existing) users feel attracted by the platform if they get the attention they need to feel welcomed here.

Writing and Reading are both important.
But In my opinion Reading is too much underestimated.

Yes, the key element especially for low SP users is to make a sensible comment for the articles of whom they follow which in turn should get a support in return, in that way the economy of steem/steemit will roll just like a robust economy. It will make our community robust.
And also grow as it will attract more people. In this light we just have to do every each other's roles, curators curating and content makers creating, and commentators reading and getting support from the upper echelon of steemit community. @slowwalker
First, this is hogwash: "As we all know, reading is much more important than writing." Writers (artists) are the attraction here. Without quality writing Steemit has no reason for existence. Get that straight, and use writer assets to attract readers. Promote your most saleable product...quality content!

yes writing is important, but reading makes the value of writing.
I guess the question comes down to which is easier to get, readers or skilled, trained practitioners of the writing craft. You've got some pretty talented people writing for Steemit, including one fellow I know about who's won two Emmys for his TV work. That kind of talent doesn't grow on trees.
The real consumer is and always will be the ones with money.
Two sides could be discussed here.
The writers and The Engagers.
Reward for Reading/Writing/Engaging.
It will be lopsided to give more attention to the reading alone for rewards

I used to disagree and think it should be more about creating content however in the last year it had become apparent that we really do need more readers and consumers of content. Everyone is too desperate to create content to be rewarded and yes, that has to change

I agree that reading is a key element in keeping this train running. While we need good content, there never seems to be a short supply of that, but, the run-by votes without reading ...

I think you got the right point to discuss! Readers are the people who can more audience! Like you said, it's hard to write what audience prefer to read every day! So, reward system should follow like you said to get more audience!
More audience >> high ratings >> more investors >> more capital >> Steem price up!
So, it's all in one chain! But when you are trying to go for Reward for reading, I think a lot to be changed in the current scenario! I don't think the HF 20 might plan to do such change! But I wish HF 21 will concern what you said and thank you for providing such valuable input to the community and to the blockchain development as well!
