STEEM just about passes with a C grade....
So the STEEM Digital Asset Report is in from Crypto Briefing. You can read it here (recommended):

It's a fairly thorough write-up and STEEM is ultimately graded as a 'C' with a score of 6.3.
"The current prospects of Steem are questionable. Therefore, due to the above risks, it is graded with C."
Despite this being a disappointing score, I think it is quite difficult to counter the majority of the points that are made in the article. The key reasons for the lower score point to the lack of progress that the platform has made to build critical mass in the social media space when the going was good. Now, since we've had the bear market, Steemit has been focused on survival and there is a perceived lack of vision and foresight for the longer term aspirations and goals for the platform. Hard to argue...?
I, for one, still like it here and I think it's too early to write-off STEEM. First-mover advantage counts for a lot - look at Ethereum. We just need that 'killer-dapp' that brings the masses here. Hopefully soon...

We’re only averaging about 2500 new active users per month! A lot is happening behind the scenes that I hope will improve things now that wallet has been moved hopefully steemit will accept community commits and we can start absorbing dAPp functionality into steemit and make it better

Hi Steve. I am glad that progress hasn't happened over night as this place was not ready for hordes of users and mass adoption. If we look at what they have done over the last year there is so much going on. I think we will see something happen within the next six months and it should put them back on track. C sounds fair and I am sure it will become a B at some point.
Agreed that it hasn't been ready. Yes, as you say, hopefully the next 6 months or so will see things ramp up.
I think that you and I are here to stay for a while either way?!
