Making Strong Eye Contact Has Been A Game Changer

As Some of you know, I participated in "Gratitude Training" last week and I have to say I did not expect this to be such and amazing experience all around.  I went into it with little expectation but what I received was much more then I realized. 

               

A lot of the excersises that went on during the 4 day training included making uncomfortable amounts of eye contact. We had numerous situations and multiple partners in which we had to get totally vulnerable and completely surrender to discomfort. Their were moments where we had to literally sit facing a partner knee to knee and just stare into their eyes for minutes at a time without saying a word. This allows you to connect on a much deeper level then you were previously aware of. 

                              

One exercise that we had to do was mingle around the room of 100 people and you had to just stop and look at someones eyes and you could either say 1 of 3 things : -I trust you , I don't know if I trust you, or I don't trust you. The whole point of the exercise is to practice honesty. For me this was much harder then I expected and I found myself telling most people I trusted them when really I wasn't sure. I was shocked to find that this defect shows up in my life more then I'm happy to admit but I'm so happy I was able to take a close look at myself in this area. They had us stop and meditate for a minute and asked us to think about how were being honest or dishonest and then start the exercise back up again. unfortunately it was still just as difficult for me to be honest with people. 

                                                    

Now I'm only giving a quick example of one small exercise we practiced. Their was 4 long intensive days of training. So you can only imagine what else went on there. Truly as the days passed I started to feel as though something quite magical was happening to me. Something that is truly hard to explain but noticeably different. 

 

Life is the most incredible gift you guys!!!! it does not make sense to live a life of discomfort and unhappiness! As much as I want to go more into detail about everything I learned in gratitude training, It's just so much to talk about and then I wouldn't have more to write about in my future blogs if I spill all the beans now lol. For today I just want to talk about how amazing it was leaving the program and the biggest thing I noticed is the unbreakable eye contact I've made with everyone since leaving there. Whether its just someone at the grocery store or the juice bar, whoever it is Ive been making such strong eye contact and it makes me feel so much more confident as a person! 

                                  

I feel blessed To have had this unbelievable opportunity and I suggest you try making strong eye contact in day to day life. Even if its with strangers, give it a shot and try not to break eye contact and see what it does to you internally. For me, its given me a great deal of confidence.
