There we have it again, another thing that most people know about.
For those that don't know what a delegation is on steemit.
Basically it is...like he put it.

From my understanding, delegated Steem Power is just Steem Power someone is lending you from their account. Basically.

This is the explanation i found for delegated steem power. I was able to understand more when i started interacting more with the platform.
So what delegating steempower generally means is when you lend some of your steempower to someone for whatever reason as we shall see below.
This steempower can't be delegated to someone else, you can't power it down or you don't have full control over it.
So basically as we can put it, the main reason for someone to delegate for you steem power is to vote. Curate as you may call it.
So there are so many reasons as to why someone would delegate for you steempower, they can range from personal reasons, social support or commercial reasons. Like we have seen over and over many people have delegated to bid-bots which in my understanding is a commercial reason.
There is also some delegated steempower for newbies on steemit. This is about 14.5sp for now. Someone told me that figure has always varied.
So there are some rules for delegating steempower if you are to delegate some anyway.

You cannot delegate SP that is being powered down. You can't power down delegated SP. You can, however, delegate a portion of your SP and power down the rest.
SP delegation works like a donation. The delegatee keeps all curation rewards.
Effectively, for votes made the delegatee, it would seem like they own the SP.
Delegators can cancel their delegations at any time, though it takes 7 days before they can use the SP themselves again.
You can only delegate SP you own, not SP delegated to you.

@liberosist did a good job in explaining as shown above.

So how most of you people use your delegated steempower to have more influence on the steemit platform?
It's nolonger a mystery, I do think.
Even when you buy a delegation lety say, we always do have goals and wish for more effectiveness from such steempower.

Thanks
As always
