The ability to unresteem a post, or a work around.

A resteem is an opportunity for one to get noticed by the followers of the resteemer, and there are many reasons why we resteem posts which i won't go very far into.
My suggestion
Maybe we should be allowed to change our minds about a resteem.
A resteem takes about two steps to complete which is good because it gives us the room to be sure of whether to, decide and resteem a post or not.

So in my understanding it's reasonable that one resteems a post when they are sure of such an action.
And i do understand that it's blockchain, most actions are irreversible, from sending funds, deleting or editing payed posts, changing username, and many more.
Such a simple action as unresteeming can be looked into.
Of course as if this option is added there could be a way for some to game the system like resteeming and removing resteems after targeted rewards and then resteem again. Of which this can also be worked about.

But consider a scenerio when you resteemed a post that plagiarized, ofcourse it's so hard to know a plagiarized post if cheetah or steem cleaners hasn't commented yet under that particular post.
So when you like it and even resteem it, then after some time later in the day you find out that they plagiarized and that you can access the original information, and then you think to yourself.
Maybe they don't deserve the rewards from my followers.
And the fact that you resteem fake posts for your followers is not so a good thing.

There are many things that happen for one to need a unresteem, plagiarism is one big one though.

A reversible resteem doesn't need so much coding, so maybe there is another stronger reason not to add it.
What could it be?

suggestion?
It could be reversible within a certain period of time

Yes like a few hours, I could have said longer but a restemed post after so long is almost pointless.
After about 4 days, it's also not that effective.

A certain undo button for convinience only after some time can be implemented.

As always

Interesting, i would also like to be able to unvote a post and reclaim my 2% voting power. Unvoteing simply unvotes, you still loose your 2% voting power.
Resteemed 😀

Actually the first time i unvoted a post, i checked to see if i got back my voting power.
So sometimes i think it's actually not worth it to remove a vote unless you just want to take away the rewards from that post..like maybe that post is really a bad post.

I would love to be able to unresteem, especially the plagiarised work which has happen on occasion, more on our curation account than my personal one, but on occasion I have resteemed a post that I didn't mean to on my account as it was meant for the curation one that could also do with an unresteem, with a time limit like everything else. Great suggestion. I also think that if you could have the option to write a quick comment as to why you are resteeming, that could drum up other votes for the resteeed person.

Great suggestion, this actually makes people more curious and most times they would check out such a post according to that quick comment.

Thank you, I agree I don't resteem often but I do have a reason that I would like to put as to why I am. Also, I think it gives more to your personal feed.
