I started blogging on Steemit just before the end of 2017, so it was basically my entire Steemit existance when @abh12345 made a post asking Who has chatted to you on the Steem blockchain the most this year?

The only thing I had to do was ask to see my numbers and Asher ran the numbers for me.

I don't normally do mass-taggings, but I thought it was neat to be able to see a representation of my main points of interaction over the last six months. All of you tagged here have impacted my experience on the Steem blockchain in a meaningful way. I appreciate the time you've taken to interact with me.

Thanks for joining me on this Quacky ride!

Wherever you're at, I hope each of you are doing well!

@abh12345 made a public post offering to look up people's number for them, so if you'd like to see who interacts with you the most, I don't think I'm out of line by saying to ask him.

Also, if you aren't a part of his weekly Curation and Engagement Leagues, I suggest signing up to see how you're doing compared to the rest of us. It's a lot of fun and there are prizes!

It has definitely been a blast starting out with everyone. I find it harder to keep up these days but glad to see everyone still holding strong!

We know you're busy with a lot of things. No worries. You keep up with us well.

Phew, I made it in! Apparently I write much shorter comments than others... Or perhaps I just use more concise words...and this makes 50 comments!

Congratulations on your 50th comment!!!! You win a brand new car! Please go down to your nearest care dealership to collect. You will have to pay a small fee of the downpayment, and the small monthly payments for 36 - 72 months, and the taxes and licensing fees, plus insurance and gas. Other than those though, the car is free! Ha ha.

I think you're right that you are more concise in your responses. Regardless, thank you for responding and being part of my steemit experience.

Disclaimer: You didn't win a free car in any way, shape, or form. Thank you for playing. Please try again soon.

Ha ha ha. Sometimes I make myself smile. :D

Sorry I couldn't actually give you a car.

Ha ha, sad face... I seem to remember something of this from the past (was it you?).

Was that me?! Have I been not really giving away free cars to you before? I'm so sorry. Here I am stringing you along. I feel like Lucy.

Nice! I'm glad to see these lists going on to blogs, and happy to pull the numbers for whoever visits.

You have some hefty incoming comment digits there!

It's been fun. I had no clue how much I had actually intereacted with some of the people. It has been fun to "find out who your friends are" as the country song says. Man, can't believe that came out twelve years ago. You probably didn't hear it if you were in the UK, but it was country music at its finest. Ha ha.

Yes, I've talked back and forth quite a bit with some of the people. There have been a lot of good times. Thanks for the reminder.

I missed that track yes, Country music rarely gets any airtime in the UK. I wish it did actually, the stuff these days is a pile of tosh!

That's a bummer you don't get country music as much.

I don't know what "tosh" is, but I think I can agree with the sentiment. Radio has changed even from six months ago. Now I turn on the radio in the car and it's nothing but auto-tuned rappers on every channel. Well, except the country stations. What happened to the music industry??!

'Tosh' is a polite term for absolute rubbish :)

Auto-tune is one of the worst additions to the industry in recent years, that stuff bends my ears!

It is very interesting to see those numbers and I hope to appear in your next list my friend

Thanks, man. Glad you enjoyed looking through some statistics with me. Hope things are going well! :)

I think all of our conversations have been regarding the Steem silver Round!!

Most of our conversations have been regarding the Steem Silver Round. However, we have also had conversations about things like

  • You strapping a couch to the top of your sedan
  • You cleaning out a lake using a kayak and a rake (I'd still like to see pics of the lake when it's cleaned)
  • The southernmost trash can in the continental USA
  • Your video interview with @sevinwilsonsdad. That was a classic! The look on your face when he answered the first few questions. :D

There may have been more, but you're correct that we've been rather singularly focused on the steem silver round. We'll have to find something else to talk about. Maybe the 2019 Steem Silver Round?! Ha ha

Haha you are good!! I forgot about the couch getting strapped on top of the car!!

With all of the rain we have gotten recently, it has cleared up a lot!

The 2019 Steem Round will be here before we know it!

I had to think about it for a minute.

Wouldn't mind seeing pictures of the lake if you get it cleaned up. It looked like it was going to be pretty nice.

Yeah, the months just roll on by. Soon it will be time for more design submissions. Did anyone resubmit their design from the 2017 contest?

Asher, is amazing in how he can narrow and focus a search. And I agree about the leagues, they are not only fun, but give an Idea of where a person is at in their interactions level. I have been tracking mine through him, and it has slipped a little bit during the summer which was to be expected, but a lot of the slippage is due to becoming more focused on growth I think, so less time for the full interactions I was doing before. (That and steem monsters), it takes a lot of thinking to do those little dinky stories.

I don't know how he does it. I think it's just some form of magic. Ha ha.

There are ebbs and flows for everything here. Sometimes you end up going one way, then later you'll go another. It's just part of the experience. If you're enjoying yourself with whatever you're doing here, then I wouldn't worry about it. Maybe you're not as engaged, but you have to grow your account too. And if you're getting life and energy out of working on Steem Monster stories, then that's great! Hopefully you're getting some good rewards for it.

Oh yeah, getting a lot of energy out of it. I missed Ashers post yesterday, and a lot others because of a photo scavenger hunt for @IFC, those have been a heck of a lot of fun, 6 hours running around greenhouse to beach, kochki store to lake. And the one and only place I know for Graffitti I forgot to stop at so, out again today to get that picture.

So if you ever need a contest, try a photo scavenger hunt.

That's a good idea. I haven't really hosted a contest in a while, other than a SBI giveaway to celebrate reaching Minnow status. That's a good hint.

Glad to hear you're having fun with it. Most people don't do a photo scavenger hunt for six hours if they're not enjoying it. :P

It does give one a reason to go out and enjoy the nice weather in a lot of different areas. I hope to have mine finished up late this evening, One more picture to go.

How is the winner determined? I take it it's not just by speed or your probably would have finished it yesterday.

The first time it was going to be first who got their post in first with all the images, that did not work to well because of all the time zones involved. So a two tier vote thing. If the entry is a picture of a picture, then regular vote, if it is a picture of a real thing or real facsimile then twice the points.

So if like in this round I am involved in a Mayan or Aztec calendar is 1 point. If it is a picture of the real or a replica then 2 points. I had to take a picture of a picture of it from one of my wifes many books. So I would get 1 point for that picture. If someone had a toy replica, or went and took a picture of the a replica in a museum then they would get two points.

Their is a panel of judges, and they decide who captured the object best. Like my "cave" entry while a cool replica, if someone got a picture from inside of a cave, or a real cave opening then as a judge I would determine that yeah the replica was cool and a good try, but this is a "Real Cave".

it gets complicated, people's feelings can get hurt, but mostly they accept the results as being fair.

Seems like a good compromise. It encourages people to actually get out there and take real pictures of things.

I could see how the subjectivity of it could cause issues, but as long as things are consistent most of the time, people can't complain too much.

Good luck! I hope you win!

I'm brand new to the engagement league and I'm enjoying it immensely. It seems I have found my niche on steemit and I'm discovering a few people that post content I feel comfortable commenting on. If nothing else, I'm gaining some great new acquaintances and possible friends.

Well, welcome! It takes a little time to get in the groove sometimes, but if you keep at it, you can do well. There are always a few people who stay in the top 10, but there are a lot of others that shuffle in and out. Normally it's up for grabs. Although since Janton started, he's had the top spot pretty much on lock-down. You can beat him though! :)

Yes, it's nice to make new acquaintances and friends. Commenting definitely helps with that. Can't build a relationship very well if you don't have any interactions.

I'm definitely having a good conversation with janto. Super nice guy. You seem to be the mysterious one. I think I may need to do a new introduction for myself. It was all so confusing at the beginning and I really didn't know what I was signing up for. I have a long time friend who has been convincing me to sign up for a lot of different things. I'm enjoying steemit and Kryptonia the most since they are very symbiotic in nature

He is really nice. It's been fun interacting with him over the last few weeks.

I'm glad you think that I'm mysterious. That's what I was going for. Granted, it's not that difficult to be mysterious on here as most people aren't going to know you to begin with.

Friends are so great! Sometimes that encourage us to do stupid things, but sometimes they get us to sign up for Steemit. :)

Yes, friends are great unless they are a little bit too serious about crypto and the first message of the day is questions about this site and others that you are involved with and payouts and referrals and who is scamming people all before you've had your first cup of coffee. LoL. Sorry for the run on sentence but he's got me a little worked over. Coffee is kicking in though ☕

the first message of the day is questions about this site and others that you are involved with and payouts and referrals and who is scamming people all before you've had your first cup of coffee

Umm, that sounds rough. Maybe they should get up later, or drink less coffee, or drink coffee later, or bury head in sand and not worry about it. Ha ha ha. :P

In all seriousness, I get it though. There's a lot that goes on here that isn't great. It makes me wonder how long Steemit is going to last. Then I just go back to writing my posts and not worry about it.

He poses some good points but I'm enjoying it and find a lot to keep me occupied. It's just a lot to engage with so early in my day. He makes me laugh and has for over twenty years now so I guess I'll keep him

That's great you have such a long friendship. Laughter is normally a part a long-term relationship, so that's good you've got it.

Hopefully the day got better for you after the coffee kicked in.

Asher also just joined me on this engagement league and I find it fascinating. Although when you say that this sums up your entire existence it does seem rather calculated.

Welcome to the League!

I joined a few days before the New Year, so it's almost entirely my time on Steemit. I don't even know if I got any responses in my first few days, so it could be all of them! :)

Thanks. It must be fascinating to compare from the beginning. I think this is now my third month so it'll be interesting to watch the growth.

It can take a while to get going, but once you get the hang of things, it sort of speeds up. You'll do well if you can get a larger account to support you. That would be help a lot.

Thanks. That's good advice.

Interesting statistics @themanwithnoname. You obviously spend a lot of time in the company of your top five! 😁

Have fun weekend!

It would seem that I do. You make a fair number of appearances yourself, so thanks for that.

Enjoy your weekend as well!

Wow, you're beating me to the punch all over the place with post ideas! I'm still going to do this one. Maybe today. Maybe tomorrow. Still need to get cracking on it, though. I'm behind on my posts this week. Incidentally, my comments are higher than they were this week through this time. Any correlation? Nah.

I have to say it's been fun so far to be a part of your Steemit journey. Thanks for having me along, again.

My apologies. There have been a number of times that I have started posts and didn't finish them. Then the opportunity just passed and I never posted it. I started just making the posts and getting them out. I figured it's better than regretting not posting it.

Good job on having your comment count up. It means you'll probably have a better standing in the League. Good luck on your posts. I'll try not to jump the gun on them. ;)

Oh, no need to apologize for anything. Any topic is fair game. I'm actually glad to see more from you, though some things can be a little on the short side. Hopefully since they tend to be the silver ones, that's helping you with the SSG folks. I actually think it's a good time to increase posts, darkhorse's minnow uprising notwithstanding. So go for it.

As it is, I did manage to get my version of the comment list post out, and I also got two other posts. Now, if I'm going to get to ten for the week, I'll need to publish four more tomorrow. That's what happens when the first part of the week I only manage to get a total of three posted.

Need to work on building up subject matter. Sometimes, though, it's situational, like this kind of post, where you're essentially extending Asher's post. Kind of hard to plan for what others are doing. Some spontaneity is good.

Yeah, most of my silver posts tend to be on the shorter side, but the main point is to be getting out a post per day on silver. There's only so much that can be said about each coin/round/bar so I mainly show the pictures and say a bit about it. I'm not sure how long that will be sustainable. I've been busting my butt to get money for silver so I can have a bunch of different fancy designs to showcase. Not sure how long that will last.

I may cut the silver posts back a bit. I think it's fine as long as I'm still posting a lot about precious metals. There are a lot of people who post about their travels or whatever and that's ok. They still do metals posts. I know some of them use the steemsilvergold tag even on posts that are just about vacation or something and I wouldn't do that, but I can't see them having an issue with my posting on gardening or whatever if I'm still posting on the shiny. :)

I thought taskmaster was encouraging the minnow uprising. I could be wrong though. I don't think I'm going to be doing four posts per day. That just seems like a lot. I don't even know what I would talk about. I feel like at that point I would just be posting pictures and not a whole lot else to say with it. That doesn't work for most people, so I've shied away from that. Things could change, but I really only get one good post per day and the rewards on the second post are normally fairly low. I don't want to use up good material... and it's disheartening to see such low numbers. Maybe I just shouldn't look! Ha ha.

I saw that you got your engagement post out. That was good. I liked that you didn't repeat the whole list, but just highlighted the ones that were different.

Hey, if you want to get four posts out tomorrow, more power to you. I always had an issue coming up with stuff to say, so getting one out meant I was doing well. Good luck!

That would be good if you could come up with another few topics that excite you and you would be willing/eager to write about consistently. It seems like the people who have exciting personal lives are the ones who are more likely to have content to post. Since I don't really post about my personal life too much (other than that I went to get silver... and I worked in the garden) I can't really go out and show what I've been working on recently. Maybe it's different for you and you would be able to highlight your garden plant of the day or something?

Some of my best and worst posts have come from spontaneity. Use it well. :)

So, that's one of those post like comments you were talking about. :)

It certainly doesn't help when there's not a lot to say, or not a lot comes to mind. From an engagement standpoint, it's tricky, too, because in my case, I have to find the hook, or it's tough to have anything meaningful to add.

Once in a while I find myself basically repeating back or summarizing what people said in their post and while I'm basically trying to agree, I don't know that I'm truly accomplishing anything. So, anyway, we do what we can, and I think it's great you've found a niche you enjoy and where I can even go being the not yet stacking but wannabe stacker that I am.

Well numbers for me overall have been disheartening lately, regardless of how many were posted, which wasn't many until today.

I'm not even sure what all I'll be able to do. Neoxian has a post-apocalyptic writing contest that ends on Sunday that I became aware of Wednesday late that I'd like to enter but the ideas have been fleeting. Doesn't help that I think dystopia and apocalyptic is saturated, nor does it help that I dislike that people seem to be so fascinated by it. It's all fun and games until the EMPs are set off, the mother of all earthquakes hit, the zombie outbreak happens or the invasion begins (country or outer space kind, take your pick). Then, it's just death and suffering.

But people don't see that part. They just like to see how the human spirit continues battling on, which is fine, but I prefer we did more to keep things together, rather than fantasizing that we're going to miraculously live through it all and do it with a smile on our face.

See, bad attitude for writing, which is why I have nothing so far.

I definitely need topics. I'm not sure what excites me, other than fiction.

My life is not a thrill a minute. I've been sharing a lot of what happens to me, which so far has been filled with garden updates, cooking adventures, and fortune cookies. I've probably done more thrilling things in the past, which I guess I could try to do more on, I'd just have to have a starting place.

This is one of those comments I was talking about! Ha ha.

It's tough to stay on top of all the things that are going on around here. Hopefully you were able to get a post together for Neozian's contest.

I know what you mean about that post-apocalyptic market being saturated. It seems like that's all that comes out nowadays. You're also right that although in the books and movies you (as the reader or main character) always live to see how things go, there are a lot of people that die. Odds of any specific person making it through the initial wave of deaths is low. Odds of that person having the skills to survive the next catastrophes is even lower.

I guess people read what they want to read, but most people don't band together now, so why would they later? There's still going to be the same issues as there are now. The main difference will be that there won't be as much comfort from technology, food, shelter, etc...

I don't believe in zombies. I think you can have zombified people, but I don't think you could reanimate them and expect them to do any meaningful damage to anyone. What's more likely is that there will be some kind of mind-control device or brain-dumbing device that allows a controller to "operate" the (former) people like puppets. Just a thought.

As far as dead flesh coming back and not just rotting away? Highly unlikely.

People have been really into uLogs recently on Steemit. It's basically just posting about your life. Doesn't have to be interesting, just your life. Seems like it would help if it were interesting though. Otherwise, it's just a spam post about how you saw a squirrel outside. Or you took the trash out.

I've got an idea for one of those posts, but I have to go somewhere to do it. I was going to take pictures the last time I was there, but the danger level was too high. I didn't want to die just for a Steemit post. Look forward to that post! ;)

I just barely posted my entry about 20 minutes ago. Fortunately, I had something mostly written for a novel I was starting. Or maybe I'll make it into a comic book series some day. Anyway, I had to find an ending for it, which I'm not sure I liked, but I was running out of time.

I don't know that it's my best work, but maybe I'll get one of the honorable mentions instead. There were a few pretty decent stories I saw. The rest, some of them I'm not even sure they understood what the writing contest was about. They weren't post-apocalyptic even remotely. I think in many of those cases, there was a language barrier, because the English in the story and in their comment links weren't all that good. Of course, they may have understood and just decided to throw something neoxian's way. I'm going to think twice about entering again if any of them win anything. :)

Well, see, I think the younger generations, the ones who typically go for this stuff, have the video game or movie mentality that they will survive and somehow will magically know what to do, because they've played The Last Of Us or something similar, or they've watched World War Z or The Walking Dead.

I think anymore, the zombies are generally infected with some kind of virus or neurotoxin, and then go around creating others through bite wounds or something. I've never been much of a zombie fan myself, so I haven't paid more than passing attention to it. The idea of reanimating flesh goes against science, not to mention religious beliefs. There's probably some bug out there that comes back to life when zapped by electricity or some such thing, and therefore all humankind is susceptible to reanimation, too.

I've been seeing the uLogs. It's starting to have a wider appeal. There must be some contest or upvotes attached. I think it primarily used to be among the Indonesian authors, but not so much anymore.

Well, don't go falling off of anything. I guess I've been doing some posts about my life without uLogging it. Oh, well. You are right, just like every other post on Steemit, some are better than others.

I saw that your post is up, but I'm winding down for the evening and I don't want to read a post-apocalyptic story right before bed. Who knows what kind of dreams that would give me.

You're probably right that the younger generation assumes they'll know what to do because of movies or video games. There's a big difference between watching someone do it on tv and actually getting off the couch and doing it yourself. As someone who has spent a lot of time doing stuff outside, I know that practice is important.

I hope you're able to win the contest. And hopefully one of the non-post-apocalyptic ones wins because it would be a shame for you to stop entering contests. I think I saw that posting and thought about writing something, but nothing was stirring in the brain box, so I passed on it. Maybe next time.

I don't know where the uLogs started, but they were really popular this last week. I think you're right that there might have been some kind of contest or prize for using it, but I couldn't find a post on it. I just found out it's basically a post on your life.

I will stay away from cliffs, ledges, roofs, and other things that I could fall off of... at least for now. That might be for another quest.

I'll be heading out shortly, so if I don't talk to you, have a great rest of your weekend and I'll see you Monday sometime. I should be around as there's a contest that I'm in where I could win some silver and I need to be present to win. I could potentially close it out soon. It's going to be close though. We'll see!
