How The Ant Lost Its Voice

My grand mother told me a tale which was in fact told to her by her own mother and it goes thus. Very many years ago, a small red ant was wandering through a huge house in search of food. He, his family and friends were very hungry, and had little to eat for a very long time. As there were several of them, they decided that it would be a good plan for each of them to go in different direction to make the search faster.

They agreed that as soon as anyone found any food he would call out to the others, so they could share it. The little red ant eventually reach a wide road made of wood. He being small assumed it was a road but it was in fact what we human called a shelf.

Suddenly he perceived a sweet aroma that made his mouth water. It was a pleasing aroma indeed, and he had no doubt at all that there was some very delicious food close by so he called the attention of the other ants.

In no time all the members of ant family had made their way to the wide wooden road. It was not long before they too perceived the mouth watering aroma.

They impatiently asked for the food and the little ant pointed to tall mountain made of glass, the ignorant ants didn't know it was a bottle of medicine and up they all went.

When they got to the top they found a very big hole, someone had forgotten to put a cork or stopper in the bottle after use, it was three quarter full of sweet smelling dark brown liquid. The ants needed no invitation, in they went and started consuming the liquid, all conversation ceased as they concentrated on filling their empty stomach.

Ants as you know are not selfish creatures, and as they enjoyed their meal they thought it would be a good idea to share with their neighbors. Before long, all kinds of ants had climb the glass mountain and were enjoying themselves.

The content of the bottle reduce as different species of ants helped themselves to the delicious liquid and by the time the soldier ant family arrived there was not much left but enough for everyone to have as much as he wanted.

Happy and filled to the brim, someone decided it would be a good idea to propose a vote of thanks to the little red ant who had discovered the excellent meal and the red ant family for inviting others to the feast. He stepped forward to speak but alas he couldn't utter a word and as each ants turned to the other in surprise, he found out that he too had lost his voice.

Unfortunately the ants couldn't read otherwise they might have seen the giant label on the side of the glass mountain which clearly said

STRONG COUGH MIXTURE. FOR ADULTS ONLY

The sweet smelling and delicious liquid inside the bottle was medicine. As it was meant to be taken by grown ups to help cure a cough, It was of course, much too strong for the ants. In fact it was too strong it robbed them of their voices.

The ants couldn't comprehend this, however they knew they had their voice before they went into the glass mountain so in they went again but this time it was in search of their missing voices but of course they never found them and that's why you will find a bunch of ants around or in bottles with sweet contents in search of their voice or simply to enjoy the delicious content lolz.
